Hi all I submitted a reconsidatration request for my pip claim. I was originally awarded standard mobility. Today I was called by the decision maker. She asked me some questions and advised she could award me 12 points for mobility putting me in the higher award category. Now my anxiety is getting the better of me. Has anyone else been told verbally something but when they got their letter it was different? Many thanks

Hello @Kate777
Thanks for posting, I hope you are well.
If the call was from a decision maker and they advised yo of what they intended to award, then I'm sure that you will see that reflected in the award letter. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to arrive to confirm it for you, but of course I understand your anxiety over it, I and I'm sure many others would feel the same until we have that bit of A4 paper to confirm it.
You'll have to let us know how it goes.1 -

I would take that with a pinch of salt until you receive the decision letter. Could is a lot different to i have.

Thanks all. Decision maker said she could get my points up to 12 for mobility but not the care side and was that ok? I should have asked more questions but was highly anxious. Now got to wait until I receive the letter. I will keep you updated!0

Good luck @Kate777

I don't know if I should call Monday or not. I don't really know how long it takes from point of call to decision being recorded on their system?0
-
It takes at least 24 hours and with it being the weekend may not be till later
I was told verbally on the phone by dm my award not from a mr though from a review . I asked about date effective of new decision and payments at the time so was very confident with the award she said and it was put in place . But she did say I was definitely awarded1 -
Thank you for all taking the time to reply. I wish I had asked a few more questions but I didn't so just have to wait and maybe call on Wednesday 😏0

If you are still unhappy you will still have the option of appealing to the tribunal service (but it would be sensible to get expert advice if available before considering that).0

Hi all
My anxiety just got the better of me and I called. The man on the phone said a decision letter was sent out to me on Friday but he cannot see the letter to know what the decision was! Is this standard as I thought they could see what the outcome was? Really worried now it is not good news and the decision maker has gone back on what he said0 -
It takes 24 hours for the computer to update and for them to be able to see it once the decision's been made.If your award has increased then you should receive any money owed before the decision letter. If you're not happy then you can take it to Tribunal.0

This is normal as prev advised it takes at least 24 hours for system to update and as it was Friday when letter was sent sat/sun are not working days also they don't always have access to the decision its a bit like pot luck with the agent you soeak to
Remember it is an outsourced call centre you call its not the dwp
I know it's not easy but try and wait for the letter as this is the official outcome0 -
Hi @Kate777 I'm afraid the man on the phone wouldn't know, as the call centre isn't involved with those who actually process the decisions around PIP.
I'm sure the letter will arrive very soon, and until that time you'll need to do your best to focus on other things. Do you have any coping methods you use to manage your anxiety? What helps you to relax? Perhaps see if you can spend time talking to friends or family, and help distract yourself as much as you can.
If you've got any questions or you're unsure of anything, please don't hesitate to reach out. Wishing you the best for a positive outcome1 -
Thank you all for your comments and advice. I will try to keep my anxiety in check. Just confused as they told me the original decision over the phone so didn't know why they can't tell me th MR one 😕0

Hi all just to let you know I got my decision and have been awarded the higher mobility. Unfortunately I was only one point off the standard care part. My question is if I take this to tribunal can I appeal just that part or would my whole claim be looked at again? I am really not sure how to proceed with this x0
-
Whether it's worth appealing will depend on whether you can score the points needed for a daily living award. We can't tell you that here because we don't know exactly how your conditions affect you against the descriptors. You should speak to an advice agency for some expert advice before doing anything else. https://advicelocal.uk/If you do request the Tribunal you need to tell them that you're happy with the mobility award that you have.
