Been offered a significant settlement, but need to keep my capital below threshold. What can I do?
Hi
I wonder if anybody has any experience of the frustrating predicament that I’m in, that they may be able to share?
As a result of a historic equal pay claim I’ve been offered a significant settlement of several thousand pounds. However since I receive Direct Payments from my Local Authority to pay for my social care, I need to keep my capital below the threshold…
I absolutely don’t want to lose funding for my care, but at the same time I don’t really want to refuse money that I should have rightfully earned over the las6t few years.
Aside from accepting the money and then spending it very quickly, does anyone have any ideas what I could do…?

You would need to report the money to your local Authority once you receive it.
