Hi @chiarieds, thank you for reminding me, I need to give VoiceAbility a bit of a poke as so far, I have heard nothing from them, which is frustrating.

Hopefully, the poke will help @Siwheels73. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to help  :)

Sorry you haven't heard from them @Siwheels73 - they did promise an advocate, so hope they are reminded to do so.

You are welcome @Siwheels73. It is the least you deserve. Good luck! Got my fingers crossed for you  :)

Progress, I think! In our search for an adapted bath, my wife and I were steered down a path, by a company who suggested a particular bath which seemed ideal at the time, and so we have been pushing long and hard for it. This option was recommended to us by a County Council OT.

After 16 months, the same occupational therapist has now suggested that a standard length bath, and a standard hoist would be suitable, albeit a slightly more expensive electrical hoist so either my wife or I can use it independently by pressing a button.

Just wondering why we didn't think of it before 🤷‍♂️🧑🏻‍🦽👩🏽‍🦽

I'm pleased to hear that things have moved forward a bit more @Siwheels73 it's funny how obvious some things seem after the fact!

That really sounds like it would be a real boost for you and your wife's independence :) Do keep us updated with how things progress.

@Alex_Scope progress, I think. Today my wife and I went to try a bath lift that can be fitted into a standard bath. Both my wife and I found it easy to transfer to, and use. The County Council OT who came with us has put in a request to our city council for a standard bath to be funder, or if that is not possible, then at least permission for us to self-fund and then fit said bath.

That's good news @Siwheels73 it must be a nice feeling to have things progressing, even if it is step by step.

Hopefully it can be funded for you both, but either way it'll be good to know that you'll be getting equipment to boost your independence :)

It's always nice to be able to test it as well. Then you know in your own mind that you'll be happy with it.

As it has been a month since my last post on this subject, I thought it was time for an update. In short, we have been blocked from talking to anyone in the council apart from the Legal Department, and they are dragging their feet with replies.

We put a adaption permission request into them on 8th July, and are STILL waiting for a response. We have an OT from Hampshire County Council advising us but it is the City Council who are playing hard with us. It is so demoralising, and we are being made to feel like sub-humans. @Az_Ali

Morning @Siwheels73 sorry to hear about this, it sounds about right with the council, our council is rubbish at sorting any thing out, i don't know if it's because they have no money or they hope if it takes to much time you'l give in. x

Update today from the OT who put an adaption request into the City Council? The City Council are putting the adaption request to an external legal advisor! This is probably the same one on whose advice the City Council turned us down last time... Meanwhile, VoiceAbility who we asked for an Advocate have a huge waiting list. Really not having fun now

What a nightmare you are having sounds like jobs worth to me

Making it hard for you because you have challenged their decision in the past

It's frustrating as hell, @janer1967. What is annoying me now is that our City Council (which I won't name) OT is questioning a professional decision of the County Council OT.

I know you need the bath installing so different scenario but just wanted you to know it works great

It is also replaced every year

We just heard that we have won our case for the bath adaptions, although we have to self-fund. Happy, happy, as we knew that, and all we wanted was permission to go ahead!
