EHCP funding question

My grandson's school has only been offering him 1.5 hours max a day this year. He has an EHCP because of cerebral palsy, a shunt, a learning and communication delay that can cause frustration and behaviour issues. He is entitled to 1:1 support in his Year 1 mainstream class. Can anyone tell me if there is a minimum number of hours that he must be attending for the school to get funding for a TA because it seems they don't have the staff to increase his hours. He is a very bright boy, progressing quickly with consistent routine, which the school isn't providing. We have been told his needs aren't severe enough for a special school. For a number of reasons, he missed out on a lot of education in his reception year and at the start of Year 1 had to have a hip operation. I am now really concerned that the school has been happy to hinder his education even further.
He didn't have a review at all last year but has one this Friday morning. Does anyone have advice on what pertinent questions my son, his dad, should be asking? Thank you.

Hello @Shropshirekaz66
Wishing you a warm welcome to the community, I hope you are well.
Thanks for joining and making your first post, it's a shame to hear that your grandson hasn't been able to receive as much support as you beleive he needs. At such an important time in his life, I can understand your concerns.
We have an EHCP tag on the community that has a range of other discussions relating to educational needs so it might be worth having a look through those to find any useful information from other situations our members have described.
IPSEA has some information on their website about the review process and you can read that here. I would also recommend getting in touch with them if you want to access any professional advice aside from the peer support you will get on here.I hope to see you getting involved more around the community. This is a very supportive and welcoming site to be a part of so I’m hopeful that you’ll find it to be a positive outlet. Feel free to have a look around and get involved wherever you’d like 😊 A few notable pages I’d recommend visiting would be:
- The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
- The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
- The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community
If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask.
