You have 15 minutes to prepare a speech that you'll be presenting to 5,000 people.

What topic would you choose, and why?

Ooo that’s a good question but I don’t think I’d be able to do a speech to 5 people let alone 5,000!

15 mins though so has to be something I know a little about, no time for research

Maybe watches and clocks, though most of the audience would fall asleep then

I would probably try and teach them something. How to look after their money, pension, inheritance, tax efficiency etc. :D

I would do a talk on how to manage absence in the workplace

Because I've done if many times and already have the materials I wrote to deliver it as a training session

Whether it would be of interest I'd another matter

    I wouldn't fancy it either @Biblioklept @66Mustang

I think that'd be a good one @66Mustang :) Though a talk on watches and clocks could be interesting if presented in the right way, I think!

Very true @woodbine... You wouldn't be short of topics. What area of social injustice do you think you'd focus on?

I enjoyed reading your recent post, which I think was about that topic @Biblioklept. Fairness would be an interesting one, as it can mean different things to different people. I'd also combust, and probably move to Canada.

This made me laugh @janer1967 :D I'm sure you could make it interesting! Leaning on knowledge and experience you already have would be a good idea in this hypothetical situation, though part of me thinks it'd be funny to make up a load of stuff about something I know nothing about.

Comparing the 'Prisoner Cell Block H years' with the 'Wentworth' years.
Why?  Well, if that were not obvious I would not have the 5000 audience!

My lecture would be on the benefits of piece and quiet, and would involved a 5 second introduction followed by 4:55 piece and quiet :)

but then you'd have to stand on the stage for nearly 4 minutes in awkward silence!!!!!!!
I would lie down for a power nap I think :)

@Ross_Scope you never fail to make me chuckle! And in all honesty, your idea of a presentation to 5000 people is similar to my own.

If all else fails, you could turn it into an interactive presentation where everyone else has to copy you. That way no one is watching you because they are all doing the same  :D
