Question for dog owners

Has anyone noticed that when walking and your dog meets another dog, and they decide not to be friends, and there is a "barking argument", the owners of the other dog can become very sniffy or unfriendly as well?

It’s like their way of thinking is: “your dog doesn’t get on with my dog, so I’m not going to get on with you”.

I think the mindset that because two animals have decided to be enemies, the owners should be enemies too, is very odd!!

I’d say it happens about 50% of the time so not uncommon. The other 50% everyone just laughs about it and says “sorry”.

(This is with dogs on a lead, under control, both owners letting both dogs have a sniff as they do, then they suddenly decide they don't like each other.)

    @Teddybear12

    I wish our dog would do that ha ha. He very rarely starts the "argument" but if another dog starts on him he will stand his ground.

    We have come across similar owners to what you describe - always their dog is perfect and it's someone else's fault.

    We have a border collie @Biblioklept. :)

    I’m not actually a massive dog person myself, it wasn’t my choice to have a dog, and I think he’s a daft animal personally lol, but I do quite like him. :blush:

    I know what you mean about the walking. I don’t think I’d ever be able to walk him on my own. A support worker suggested taking the dog as a first step to help me leave the house on my own but I think that would actually make it harder because it’s something else to worry about and keep under control etc.
