Pip- Still awaiting decision

I applied for PIP back in February and on the 27th May I received a text from DWP that they don't need any further information and it looks like a Paper Based Assessment has been carried out and I should hear about the decision within 8 weeks.
Today I received a text message saying that they have not decided on my claim and I should hear from them soon.
Has anyone else received this 2nd text message as it has been making me think all kinds. Why have they sent it? Given the 8 weeks is still not up.
I have phoned them today for a copy of the assessment report that would have been completed even though it is paper based.
Is this usual with the DWP? I just cant believe the length of time it is taking.
If they carry out a paper based assessment does that mean I have something?
Your thoughts please

Your timescale up to now has been extremely quick. It seems like DWP are sending texts with updates more often, which hopefully will cut down on people constantly ringing for updates, which only causes long waiting times for lots of people.
Decision timescales are actually between 2-12 weeks rather than up to 8 weeks. All you can do is wait.0 -
Its the waiting that is frustrating and all I want is answers as much as any of us do.
I assume with assessment report is a good indication but not guaranteed of the award given?0 -
I totally get the frustration of waiting for the decision but there's really nothing more you can do until that decisions been made. They do mostly go with the report but it has been known for them to go against it. Before making the decision they will look at all evidence you sent, including the report.0

It's the not knowing and the wait really has got me down. I just want an end to the worry of it all and to get back on with my life. Just think whole process has been stressful enough and really needed not to be as not my fault I have a crippling condition that has taken over every aspect of my life.
All I can do is wait see what report says but not to guarantee they will go with it. But will give me good indication what is going on. Fingers crossed.0 -
To be fair your whole process up to now has been very quick indeed. Lots of people are still waiting 10 months after applying. It’s not anyones fault we have these health conditions.0

Hi @elenamckay I can appreciate that you're feeling pretty stressed right now, so well done for getting through the assessment
Is there anyone else besides your partner who could help support you with driving? I know sometimes parents do car shares to help save petrol, would that be an option to explore?
Do you know about the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme? If you're referred to hospital or other NHS premises for specialist NHS treatment or diagnostic tests by a doctor, dentist or another primary care health professional, you may be able to claim a refund of reasonable travel costs under this scheme.
See if you can speak to your GP about being referred to the scheme, and the concerns you have about getting yourself to hospital for your operation.
Keep us up to date with how you're getting on, and let us know if we can help further with anything.

Hi first applied on 24th of January this year and still waiting I’ve had the text message on 4th of may saying should hear within 8 weeks but I think that’s just a guide line , I was expecting a long wait to be honest as I know my doctor will make it difficult for me,previously I wondered why it’s taking so long but now I know0

The waiting has nothing to do with a GP, they very rarely contact anyone. The onus is on you to prove you qualify, not their's. There's huge backlogs and some are waiting inexcess of 10 months for a decision.
