Yes you did Jane. You are making a good point about other people being able to drive as well as me. I had forgotten about that and will bring it up with the c.ompany when they reply to me.  Thank you for taking an interest.

Animals and nature make me happy. I feed the wild birds and several have become my little friends :) I also have a squirrel who visits and sometimes eats from my hand. Nature makes me feel like I am a part of something awesome!

You make a very good point  @Starlingbird.
I find it very relaxing when I watch two goldcrests on my lawn. I also have a single squirrel who visits. Last year I had a number but maybe he has not mated this year. My favourite is a greater spotted woodpeckerj who comes for peanuts.

    Hello Jane
I have been looking further into hand controls and discovered a company in Accrington who have developed a solution. It is called ELAP and they have a lever which sells for £674 including fitting. They have various franchises around England. In my case the nearest one is only 30 miles away. When you push it the car accelerates and when you pull it the car brakes. The next problem is a lightweight wheelchair. I have found a company called Sunrise
Medical Ltd who manufacture a wheelchair with detachable wheels. They come off at the touch of a button.
The remaining part of the wheelchair weighs just under 1 stone (13 lbs or 6kg)  and can be lifted by your right hand across the steering wheel and onto the passenger seat. The wheels which weigh another 2.4kg or 5 lbs can then also be lifted and placed on the passenger seat. The cost of the wheelchair is about £350. You can then find a charity which will come to you and give you the chance to try an adapted car to find out if it works for you. I have one in Cornwall called Cornwall Mobility. Although I live in Devon I am told they come out to places further away than my area. I am sure they could advise on a local equivalent convenient to any interested person.
