Getting Conflicting Advice from UC Advisors.
Sorry for asking, what may seem like a simple question, Never claimed UC before.
Have tried looking online for this answer, no luck.
I have an ID interview this afternoon, but being disabled with very bad mobility issues, on 2 crutches too, I can hardly walk, without the risk of falling over (I have fallen over a few times). I called up UC yesterday, to explain that I am unable to attend the interview, gave my reasons as to why, the nice gentleman who I spoke to said that I could either have a phone interview or a home visit, was happy with thst as prefer a home visit. (Unable to confirm my ID via government Gateway).
Was advised to leave an appointment note in my online journal, which was done yesterday. I called up today and explained the situation, to a different advisor explaining that I can hardly walk let alone stand, the advisor was adamant that I will need to attend the interview, I kept explaining that both myself and my wife are unable to, so we would prefer a home visit, the advisor said that she has never heard of home visits, even after explaining several times that Is what a different advisor said, who I spoke to yestetday.
Sorry for the long message.

Hi there
I'm not sure they still do home visits after the pandemic
I had one about 6 years ago this was discussed before somewhere on here and majority of 0eopke said they hadn't heard of home visits for id checks
Could you get somebody to take you and possibly use a wheelchair to mobilise0 -
Hi Janer 1967,
Thank you for your message.
In answer to your question, not really, as I have no family/friends locally.
My wife is unable to take me, my wife also has disabilities and poor mobility issues too and as I am the main claimant, my wife, had to claim, due to us being married, my wife is early medically retired, due to a blood clot on the lungs near the heart, previously had DVT in leg, also breathing problems, along with other disabilities which I won't go into on here.0 -
OK sorry I don't know the solution I have to get taxi if I go anywhere and rely on the drivers to help with my wheelchair
However I normally go with someone due to my vision impairment
Have you quoted reasonable adjustments under the equality act to them0 -
I can't imagine they would do home visits for this reason at the moment. Part of your claim for UC is that you do need to attend your local Job centre when you first claim and usually you would both need to attend to confirm your identity and to agree to your claimant commiments.

Home visits are rare but are possible and are in their guidelines. If there's any way you can go or have someone else take your ID for you it would be easier though. I was allowed for someone else to take my ID in for me. The home visit could take months to organise and you won't receive a payment from UC until ID has been verified. Hope you sort something0

Hi
A belated welcome to the online community. I am sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. Have you been able to sort something out and were you able to have a home visit. I also understand that sometimes biographical telephone appointments are also available .0
