Clothes protectors for adults

My (adult) friend who has CP and learning disabilities has a life-long issue with drooling. Surgery, medication and patches have not helped much.

Now in his fifties the neckerchief style of clothes protector isn’t sufficient to keep his shirts dry, so he has started to wear an apron / mealtime clothes protector when out and about as well as at home. This keeps him dry but as someone who’s a snappy dresser he really doesn’t like doing it.

Do you know of any solutions!

What a great question @louiseheatley. I am not aware of any solutions myself but hopefully, someone else in our wonderful community will have some ideas!

In the meantime, I will tag @Alex_Scope and @Richard_Scope as they are most probable to have some ideas about this.

Good luck. If we can do anything else to support you or your friend please don't hesitate to let us know  :)

Hello and welcome @louiseheatley thanks for your query, I'm sorry we haven't been able to find a solution just yet.

Although I have CP, drooling isn't a big symptom for me, so I wouldn't be sure of what to suggest. I can see why using an apron or a protector wouldn't help your friend feel at his best. The way we dress says a lot about us, and sometimes who we want to be :)

If you haven't had a look around the forum already, feel free to do so, here's some places to get started:
    • The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
    • The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
    • The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community

If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask, and we'll do what we can to help.

    Alex

    Hi @louiseheatley
Thanks for your post. There are options on eBay  but if your friend would like something more bespoke I would suggest contacting some of the sellers on Etsy that make adult clothing protectors
