Kidney Op

Just to let those who have been interested know, I have decided to delay my kidney op by 12 months. This was down to a range of reasons including increasing covid rates in my hospital and needing more info on the possible options before going ahead.

I was amazed when I had my surgery other week once in the ward was told we could remove our masks !!
You had to take a lft the day b4 admission and take a pic of the test strip on your phone
This could have potential issues as nobody knows who took the test it could have been anyone
If you were not vaccinated you had to do a pcr test few days prior0 -
@SueHeath, I am not sure my ConsultantS have read their emails yet...1

Can I ask what the kidney op is for, i believe it is to remove a kidney but why is that happening. The reason I am asking is I am going through hell at the moment with something similar. I have had three operations so far to try and remove a kidney stone which i believe is more than 8 mm. It is stuck in a tube and they have failed each time to remove it.When i woke up from my last operation i was told it is now life threatenig. I sent me into a panic. They had a meeting and then had to have another meeting as they had to bring in an expert from out of the area. They have said they are going to try one more time, and this time they will be putting two stents in, instead of one. They have told me that my kidney is struggling and if this fails then i could lose it, which scares me to death. The consultant rang me a week ago to tell me they are trying to get everyone together to do the operation as they have had to bring in a special tool for the operation and there will be more people in the operating theatre than normal. They have said it is a lot of people to get into one theatre together at an agreed time. They have said they want to do it in August, but i have a wedding to go to in August which they have said i would not be allowed to go to.They have said they cannot wait until september like i wanted so i could go to the wedding. they said the operation could not wait and must be done in august. If the operation is not a success then i will need to have another operation which will be more than ten hours long and that would be to remove the tube and replace it.I am not really getting any answers and when the doctors do talk they talk in jargain. The surgeon when i came around told me it was life threatening. The consultant who rang me last said it was life threatening but they would not let me die. They told me there was nothing to worry about as they would have lots of extra people in the room. When i said about losing my kidney, the doctor told me not to be silly and not to worry about losing a kidney. He said loads of people lose a kidney and i had another one which is just fine. But that is easy for him to say.Just wondering if you have any advice for someone going through the same situation.0

Thanks for the update @Siwheels73 That reasoning makes sense, so hopefully it'll be better timing for you in 12 months time.0
