Hello lm on LCWRA universal credit. My mum lived in Ireland and sadly just passed away. I may be due some inheritance money. Not sure what happens. Do I have to come off universal credit or do they cut the money down. Any help would be much appreciated

Hello there @Georgia63 and thanks for reaching out, I hope the above reply helped to answer your query?
I'm also very sorry to hear about the loss of your mum. How are you finding things? If ever you feel like you are struggling, Cruse bereavement support might be worth looking into, they have lots of information and advice to help.
Do let us know if you feel we can do anything further, and take care

Sorry for your loss. Once the money goes into your bank you will need to report the changes to UC and your local Authority, if you're claiming council tax reduction. For UC what counts is what is in your bank account on the last day of your assessment period. If you have some debt then paying this off while claiming UC is not classed as deprivation of capital.Do be aware that the savings rule for council tax reduction are different in all areas, some have a maximum savings limit of £6,000 before entitlement to CTR ends.1
