Hi, I’m overweight. I’m six foot one and seventeen stone and I want to lose weight as painlessly as possible. I usually have one bowl of cornflakes for breakfast, one slice of toast for lunch, a smallish dinner and a slice of toast for supper. No butter on the toast. Occasional chocolate digestive 😈
Last two months i tried walking about a mile and a half a day but it made no difference to my weight at all...so I stopped. It makes me anxious anyway so I was very glad to stop.
Any wonder foods to report or amazing tips? 🙂 I need to lose about three stones.

Hi @leeCal it's hard battling the weight, I've lost 2kg which I know is not amazing. I had lower carbs to start with and no junk, but it's slowly creeping back in. ( puts down the fruit and nut choccy bar.) I can't really do exercise with my spine, use to do gym twice a week but got pulled out by the consultant. Been doing leg exercises as my muscles are so weak.
Maybe you need to eat more, especially fruit and veg. I know NHS are doing weight programmes at the minute.1 -
Thanks @Sandy_123, I did try the nhs once but it was a waste of time for me anyway.
I just remembered something quite crucial, I drink over twenty mugs of tea or coffee a day each with one sugar in! I suppose that isn’t helping but I’ve tried all the sweeteners and they taste bitter to some degree or other.0 -
When I need to lose wait I fast for 18 hours then eat inside the next 6 hour period. I do this for a month and always lose weight. Inside the six hour period I eat 2 or 3 meals. No takeaways. No junk food. No fizzy drinks. Carry-on the walks if you think it's not helping the weight loss at least it helps the heart and longer health. Stick to it, you got this.
App I use: fasting tracker and myfitnesspal for watching calories.1 -
I detest sweetners in drinks, I used to have 1 suger in coffee, I usually have about 4 a day, I stopped the sugar, it actually tastes better without I think. 28 spoons of suger a week stopped, when u add it up.
The walking would of been good for you, swimming is good too1 -
@leeCal I'm starting tomorrow to try and move some weight I don't eat a lot but could eat more healthy
Since being in wheelchair I I get no exercise so bought 2 dvd for wheelchair exercise
My meds also don't help
I'm feeling very uncomfortable and need to do something
Have you thought of trying slim fast the shakes or similar1 -
I haven’t thought of the slimfast shakes @janer1967, I’ve heard of them of course, I’ll check on the prices in a mo and see. Thank you.
edit; have ordered some to try. 🙂1 -
Hi 👋, I think reducing salt and sugar could help to reduce weight. Personally, I am addicted to salt 🧂and I use lots of it in my dishes. Exercising, dancing could help reduce a bit of body mass too. I think better motivation can be achieved when you decide to join a group of people who do sport activities together. Eating lots of salads during day instead snacks. And perhaps having big breakfast in the morning but trying to eat less in the evening could be a good too. I would love to loose a bit of weight/ few kgs too.1

We’re in the same boat @woodbine 🤣 I think quite a bit of weight is due to medication to be honest. But... @Teddybear12 Sugar in my tea and coffee is obviously adding to my woes, it’s a good idea to reduce that in the way you suggest, thank you.
Ps no my neighbours don’t have dogs unfortunately because that would be a great way to go walking I think.1 -
Hi @leeCal, I know that here in London people walk somebody’s dog borrowing dog via BorrowMyDoggy website. However, I didn’t find any match there in 2019 so I resign from membership there. Perhaps you can find BorrowMyDoggy operating in your area too. Worthy to check. Have a good day.1

I have started swimming for losing weight. It's quite helpful for me. I lose around 5KG weight without doing any specific diet.1

I definitely think my meds don't help, i have never felt so bloated, doesn't help when you can't move fast either, it's also harder i find as we get older to loss weight.
I'm going to try and set my self a goal in the cooler months and try and reach 5 miles a day walking, bit like the 5k from sofa challenge ha ha.
I think we should try and keep this thread going it might help some of us - bit like our own slimmers world x1 -

According to sky news it’s not about how much you exercise but how often. Interesting article here https://news.sky.com/story/experts-say-its-about-how-often-you-exercise-not-how-much-126736820
