I am on here in the middle of the night as I have lost a filling and the jagged edge of the tooth has made my tongue bleed and sore. I am also here to find out about the benefits my daughter might be able to claim. she works but is almost no longer able, She has COPD, Asthma and an unidentified lung disease, all of which are getting progressively worse.

Do you have a dentist you can ring for an appointment? Regarding your daughter. If she's currently working then she can send a fit note and claim SSP from her employer. If she's entitled then her employer must pay her this for 28 weeks. https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility
She can use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit. If she lives with a partner they need to claim as a couple and their joint circumstances will be taken into consideration. If they have savings/capital of more than £16,000 they'll be excluded from claiming.
Once her SSP ends she can look at claiming New style ESA but she will need to have paid the correct amount of NI contributions in the previous 2 tax years. If she claims this and UC together then the ESA will be deducted from any UC entitlement. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance-detailed-guide
She can look at claiming PIP. It's a disability benefit that isn't means tested so other income/savings/capital do not affect the amount you maybe entitled to. It's not awarded based on any diganosis, it's how those conditions affect your ability to carry out the 12 PIP activities. It's also not about being able to work.
It's a lot of information to take in so if she doesn't understand all of this then she will need to speak to an advice agency for a full benefits check.

Hello @keyholekate I'm very sorry to hear about your tooth, that must be so painful! Are you registered with a dentist? If so, I'd encourage you to make an emergency appointment to sort out this lost filling.

I hope the information Poppy has linked is helpful for you and your daughter, but don't hesitate to ask if you're still unsure of anything.

Once you've sorted your tooth, and perhaps need to pass the time recovering, do feel free to have a look around the forum. You can find all the latest conversations in our recent discussions category, all the different topics in our categories page, and you can meet and chat with other members over in our virtual coffee lounge too.

We look forward to seeing you around, and all the best with the dentist! :)
