Your education/career plans
I know I have asked before what peoples dream job would be if they had no health problems, but this time I’m asking from a more realistic and pragmatic point of view.
I was going to say that this is a question for the younger members, but that’s not necessarily true, as anyone could be in this position, so please anyone go ahead and answer if you feel it is appropriate.
I am basically wondering what plans people have related to their education and career, but especially from people who have never worked before or are still at the education stage. Alternatively, you are in the process of a career change or retraining, maybe even as a result of becoming disabled, that would be interesting to hear about too!
Some of us might even read some good suggestions that we hadn’t thought of ourselves.

Personally my plan is to study philosophy at A level and then go on to do it at degree level. I have no idea what job I’d like to do, though, as I have to do something within my limitations. I always wanted to be a pilot but that’s out of the question now; I was looking at accountancy but am not sure I could cope with that. Honestly I’d do anything - even a minimum wage job - if one came up that was compatible with my situation!

I`m answering in the context of someone with 6 years from (my new) retirement age.I work part-time (Tue, Wed, Thur) in an IT role and up until about 3 years ago, I was considering paying for an IT course that would allow me to go freelance. My current role requires that I`m security cleared so that, in conjunction with the course, would have opened the market doors for me.Then I woke up one morning and thought "I`ve had enough of working, just work my time, be paid for what I do and then retire early if possible".So now I have no aspirations for anything other than retiring.0

I have a Bachelor's degree, and I don't have plans to get a master's. I have a job in a good company, but I've been working on my position for a while, and I want to change it.
I bought one online course, and after finishing it, I'll try to get another position.

Thank you very much for all the replies.
Working self employed is interesting @Biblioklept do you mind sharing what exactly you do or do? It’s OK if you don’t want to share that information. I also agree that the amount of remote working is a good thing for a lot of disabled people.
@teddybear12 thanks for the kind comments, I found your words very encouraging. I am planning on doing the study online yes - I totally agree that no higher education is wasted although I kind of feel some kind of commitment, if the state helps me with education, to give something back if that makes sense?
@Cartini thank you for the comments, I think your plan sounds good
@leecal I would say I found the bit about retiring a little demoralising. I know the comments weren’t meant that way but I’m just saying that not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to retire. That said, I do appreciate that it’s something to aspire to! Personally, if I ever find work, I intend to max out my pension contributions to have the best/earliest retirement possible!
@DustinThomas thanks for the comments - sounds like you are doing really well and I hope it continues like that for you.1 -
Oops, sorry @66Mustang, I should say that I never really found something in life which I truly loved doing, so perhaps that’s the lesson learned by me anyway. 🤔0

That sounds really tough @leeCal0
