Hi , I contacted PIP today and was told I have been disallowed PIP -I have PTSD , anxiety and panic attacks from age 21. I am 57 now.I am feeling very overwhelmed that I dont know if I can proceed with a MR and appeal etc.I have had mental heath issues for 36 years -I have also
been through breast cabcer 11 years ago, and this has contributed to my issues as I live in fear of recurrance.
I am waiting on the decision letter coming and a copy of me HP assessment report which was recorded, they already sent me the CD. I was medicaly retired from my job in the Civil Service 13 years ago and now work term time as a classroom assistant.
I did get DKmLA for 9 years 2006-2015 then they completkey stopped it but continued to give itto me when I changed jobs to being a ckassroom assisrant - I could not face the appeal procedure.
Took a lot for me to apply for PIP which i started in May and told today I have been disallowed.Got 2 points in Daily Living somewhere and 0 in everyhting else including mobility.
Sorry for the long text especailly as I am only new here-I would really appreciate some advice or similar experiences- thank you

Your next step is to request the MR and you have 1 month from the date of the decision to do this. You should put this in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points.
Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each activity that applies to you.

Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exacetly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. You should aim for at least half an A4 side of paper per descriptor that applies.

The most likely outcome of the MR will be the decision will remain the same. If this happens then you can proceed to Tribunal. Waiting times for MR decisions are between 2-12 weeks, sometimes longer.

When you receive the assessment report i'd advise you to put it to one side and forget about it because this isn't going to get you a PIP award. The same with the recording you have. You won't be able to use that recording unless you have it professionally transcribed because DWP and the Tribunal (if it gets that far) do not have the equipment needed to listen to it.
You may also want to get some expert advice from an agency near you. Start here. https://advicelocal.uk/

Hi @roc123 :) I hope that poppy123456's reply has helped you to understand what your next steps could be. If there's anything you're unsure about, please just let us know.

I can see that you've mentioned experiencing PTSD, panic attacks, and anxiety. Are you receiving any support to help you manage those conditions at the moment?

    Hi @Tori_Scope
Thank you for your comment-I am on the waiting list for pschological services and gave been assessed etc -my medz were changed I fet support from other sources -I was involved in a bomb blast at age 21 ( I live in N Ireland) and was recently told all my anxiety was triggered by that incident and it continues to affect my life.
I am feeling like PIP assesirs think I am a liar or that I made ut up but I had sent the evudence and got disallowed regardkess.

You are welcome @Roc123. It is the very least you deserve.

Have you been able to access psychological services yet and how are you currently finding all of your other supports? I recognise it has been a little while since you last posted on this thread now.

I want to make sure you are able to access all the support you need and deserve. However, I am aware things might have changed since you last posted on this thread  :)

Thanks for your update @Roc123. It sounds really positive that your GP has informed you they are in the process of arranging support for you in the meantime.

Though, it sounds really difficult that the report is incomplete and none of the questions were answered. Unfortunately, this is not an area of my expertise.

This means I wouldn't want to provide you with the wrong answer. I am hoping someone with more knowledge and experience can respond to your question soon.

In the meantime, I wanted to respond to let you know we hear you and are here with you. You don't have to face this, or anything else, alone if you don't want to  :)

The most likely outcome of the MR will be the decision will remain the same as only around 27% of decisions change at this stage.

Are you talking about the person that did the assessment here? or your GP? if it's the person that did the assessment then they are not GPs. They are health care professionals but they don't need to have any specific knowledge of any conditions because PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis.
For the MR what you need to do is concentrate on those real world examples i mentioned here.

Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each activity that applies to you.

Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exacetly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. You should aim for at least half an A4 side of paper per descriptor that applies.

https://forum.scope.org.uk/profile/poppy123456 It wS another GP?yez I gave examples etc but the HP kept referring to "no mental health diagnosis"which there
Clearly was and I provided it -the HP even stated
that there was evidence but in her opinion she disagreed with the things I listed that I needed help with etc There was a heading on the report that said "HP Opinion"  She was a nurze who clearly had no knowledge of my issues The evidence I suppmied came from mg Specialist MH Dr!!

You are welcome @Roc123. It is the very least you deserve.

It sounds really tough that it is draining you. I am also hoping someone will be able to answer you and support you!

We are all more than willing to listen to you though. You don’t have to face this, or anything else, alone if you don’t want to.

Good luck with sending in a MR and highlighting the incomplete report. Please feel free to keep us updated with how things go for you  :)
