Good afternoon, hope everyone is well.

Late last year, I was awarded standard PIP living due to mental health. I think I was quite fortunate getting it first time over a telephone assessment with no evidence.

However, in April this year I was admitted to hospital with a heart infection (endocarditis) and I am now waiting for open heart surgery to fix the damage. I now get very tired easily and my mental health has got alot worse with anxiety, going outside is very scary.

I haven't told PIP just yet, but I'm wondering when I report a change of circumstances, would I have to go for assessment face to face? I'm pretty scared of that idea. I'm also very anxious about losing my current claim and payments.

Just wondering what people's experiences was like with change of circumstances.

Thank you

If you do report a change you will be required to fill out a new health form and will likely have a new assessment. If the operation is intended to ‘fix’ you then your condition may not affect you for another 9 months in which case it would not affect your PIP entitlement.

Hi @faz88 :) Thank you for posting about this. I hope that calcotti's comment has been useful in helping you decide whether you should submit a change of circumstances.

You could also try seeking some expert support by looking on advicelocal.uk.

I'm sorry to hear that your mental health has worsened. Are you receiving enough support to help you manage your mental health at the moment, including your anxiety about going outside?
