Fit notes

Hi everyone,

Can anyone please advise me on understanding the process of fit notes.

I know it should be straight forward, but it could be just my over-thinking.

The first one I put in was at the end of May,which I showed them at the Jobcentre.

Then my second I just told my advisor on my journal & she put it straight through.

Today, after a lot of hassle at docs surgery (long story), I got a 3 month fit note. I told my advisor on my journal like I did the last time, but someone on behalf of my advisor responded, telling me to fill out the provide a new fit note part on the home section of my account.

I started panicking about that, thinking were they classing it as my first fit note, when it's actually my 3rd?

Sorry about any overreaction, it's just been a very stressful time.

On your journal it should prompt you to provide a fit note when your existing one is due to end. If it hasn’t then I’m unsure why. So yes, you should report that fit note and you’ve been advised correctly.

In future when you get reminders you just need to report that new fit note.

It sounds like the first two your advisor put through for you. And this third one they wanted you to add yourself. Normal process is to add them yourself. If you're worried about it recording it as your first, scroll back on your journal and check there are entries showing the dates of your previous ones <3 I hope today is a better day

    Good morning @Biblioklept,

Thanks for the reply. I've checked my fit notes in my journal, everything's fine, so that's what must have been happening. On journal for the one I submitted yesterday it says it has been completed, I'm just waiting for the message to say it's been accepted, then I will relax.

Today is an okay day, thankyou.❤️

So glad I've got this forum.

I had a terrible time trying to understand the process of fit note declaration since late 2019. I'm sure the Task as a function didn't exist or prompt me until some time in 2021. I sent these all to the JC and got a reciept for only 1 that I posted during covid lockdowns and now after UC finally gave me my WCA decision they say I've not declared 3 fit notes over a continuous period of 9 months so will only pay me 1 year arrears instead of 3. I said that I've always provided them and filled in the task when it was in my todo but there are other times when the fit note task came up when there were over a month left on my exsiting one.
The JC and other DWP staff didn't knwo what to do during Covid and told me to keep them as JC were shut but I posted then anyway and put a note in my journal which should have been enough as it gave the start and end dates. They are just trying to stop paying out a large amount. Not happy given it's taken 3 years to get my WCA and decision. I said if I didn't provide them then why did they still pay me and not sanction me? I've also uploaded all of these to ESA who have given me the full arrears The issue is UC have also paid me part arrears so are duplicating the claim.

Has anyone else been challenged on not providing fit notes or duplicate payment issues on a joint New style ESA / UC claim?
    thanks!
