Hi everyone just stumbled upon your Web site. I was trying to share my shock with somebody else that might know what it's like to have Fibromyalgia. My shock or surprise is that I have been awarded PiP for my condition. After months of struggling? Medicals, phone calls lots of pain and then the dreaded PiP assessment. I literally just checked my bank account today? Which is very empty to find they have awarded me PiP. No letter or break down. So just waiting for the official letter. I just wanted to share my shock with other people and say somebody actually believed me ???? I have not been paid since March and have only recieved £14.60 sickness benefit 🙃 I have had to stop doing a job I love. I have gone from being A Mum A Gran, A Carer to being the Cared For???? And I Hate it so much !!!! I have forgotten who I am and Miss being Who I Was So Much. Thank you for taking the time to read me having a moan ???? Xxx

Good news. We have quite a few members that have fibro, myself included but i also have other conditions. I also claim PIP and have done for 9 years. Though PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it will be how those conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors.

Thank you for your lovely messages. This has been a lonely frustrating journey? Nice to hear from people who understand and with no judgement

Welcome to the community from me too @kimfox09
Well done on your PIP award!
Many people find it a lonely, frustrating journey so you're not the only one to feel that way at all. I know that doesn't take away any of your frustration, but I hope that connecting with others who've been through this will help to ease your feelings of loneliness a little.
It can be a real adjustment when you feel as though your role has moved away from caring for people, to being cared for. That being said, I'm sure there are ways that you continue to care for your loved ones. Things like emotional support and kind company are underrated forms of care in my opinion!
We've heard some members liken this adjustment to a feeling of grief. Does that resonate with you at all?1 -

Hi, I am so glad you have been awarded pip!!!
I am awaiting my assessment after applying in July, I have fibro amongst other conditions and ive heard some success stories of people with fibro being awarded pip! woohoo! I hope you are able to relax now you have been awarded pip, and remember its ok to be cared for!0 -
Thank you for posting this and giving hope.
I have M.E CFS and Fibro and have been declined PIP.. I am waiting to hear again after sending off a MR .. I fully expect to have to appeal but your good news has given me a renewed vigour0 -
I wish you the best of luck trying to get PiP, I also have other health conditions just like you? The whole procedure was so difficult, I felt so low, embarrassed, humiliated all the above and more!!! When I had to go to my interview my daughter took me, I made myself ill with worry and broke down during my interview !!! I honestly thought they would throw my claim out? I have struggled with having no income since March. I broke down when I recieved the email two weeks after my interview saying mu claim was successful. If you need any reassurance or help please just ask?0
