Hi, my name is debbiebale! My PIP MR was declined. Do I have to go to a hearing in person?

Hi I did a mandatory consideration for my pip which was declined then I appealed and stage 1 they called me yesterday to ask a few questions - then I receive email today to say letter in post - on decision the email just stated that I said I wasn’t to attend the hearing in person - so does this mean I have not been awarded and will have to go to hearing ? I’ve heard of people emails saying to contact dwp regarding other affected benefits when mine didn’t say that and they were awarded - hope I’m making sense and someone can enlighten me thanks x

I'm assuming the email was from HMCTS because DWP don't usually communicate through email. Did you say that you wanted to attend the hearing or did you ask for a paper based hearing? If it was from HMCTS then you'll need to wait for the letter because it sounds like a decision has been made.1

Hi yeah I meant it confirmed I didn’t want to attend - which I don’t - but I’ve read when people have this email and they have been successful it says something like make sure u inform dwp of any changes to your income when mine said a decision made and just to clarify I didn’t want to attend the next hearing so I presume I wasn’t successful x0

Oh sorry just to add originally I was awarded low rate mobility which I’m happy with and no care but I was awarded 8 points I think , then she called yesterday to clarify what I wanted to be looked at again ( what I didn’t agree with ) then I got email this morning - is it usually that quick ? I’ve been so unwell and waited since nov 2021 for this claim so I’m so disheartened I can’t attend a hearing I’m just not up to it don’t really have any fight left if I’m honest0

I don't think that means you weren't successful. Because of security reasons HMCTS will not disclose what the decision was through an email. (if it's been made)Is there any reason why you chose not attend the hearing? Paper based hearings have an extremely low success rate of between 5-8%. Those that attend or have a telephone hearing have around 70% success rate.0

Hi I just feel so unwell and tired all the time - and formal places ( like government offices ) give me the worst anxiety - it’s the worst - I just can’t cope0

Hopefully you will recieve the letter soon and if it is the decision, fingers crossed it went in your favour. Do come back and let us know.
