I'm new here this is my first post so hi everyone. I've just received my copy of the assessors assessment and I'm so upset. I can't believe it's so blatantly inconsistent. The write up does not correspond with the tick boxes for instance I am able to shower unaided, but in write up cant shower unaided as I have a prescribed shower stool from social services. I do not have any planned treatment in the next 12 months but as stated I'm in hospital tomorrow for intravenous medication for 8 hrs also physiotherapy this month. I needed breaks but said I needed none. I'm so upset. Has this happened to anyone else. Thank you.

I have had numerous health assessments by both the pip and the dwp and in my opinion they disregarded anything i said and  the dwp assessor wrote that i'm fit for work. I was taken off esa and placed on uc  but i appealed and won and was placed back on esa. I do often wonder if the assessors get a bonus for getting somebody off of pip or esa

The assessors do not receive any bonuses for anyone that is refused. They don’t make decisions only a DWP decision maker can do that.

This is what happens when requesting a copy of the report, it often causes more needles anxiety than you may have previously had.
The report is not the decision letter, it’s a recommendation. Though they mostly go with it, they don’t always.
There’s nothing stopping you ringing PIP to ask for a decision maker to ring you and then you can put across your thoughts about the report.
Other than that once the decision is made if you’re not happy you can request the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR)
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I understand that but it's not correct. For instance it states I have no future medical pain relief planed for the next 12 months including physio. we spoke about on phone I plus I have the hospital letters. I've just left hospital today. Been there since 12.45 for my infusion. I'm a bit groggy right now. Although report states I only take 2 paracetamol a day, not sure where that came from. It goes on and on I can shower alone unaided but in the notes says can't shower without shower stool aid. I don't mind not receiving pip if for true reasons. But the whole report is wrong. I rang pip and they apologised and transferred me over to the assessor. She didn't answer for over an hr so I gave up. It's a shame because the person I spoke to said this needs correcting before it goes to official assessment but I explained I was in hospital today. I just hope I'll be well enough tomorrow to sort it out.

Welcome to the community @coco78 :)

You're certainly not the only one this has happened to, or the only one who has felt upset after reading the report. I realise that won't make you feel less upset or frustrated, but I hope that it helps you to feel less alone.

Are you familiar with Mandatory Reconsiderations (MRs) at all?

How are you feeling today, now that you've had a little more time to process it?

Hi @Tori_Scope thank you for your reply. I'm on bed rest now after my infusion so I'll have a look tomorrow. My nurse was so upset that my intensive pain management procedure had been left out of report he took a photo of me today hooked up the the ecg, blood pressure, and drip. I have to rest now. I'm under 24 hr watch by hospital request and I'm feeling a little poorly in bed ✌️

@tori thank you. Honestly feeling quite low. I just can't get me head around having someone who isn't a specialist or hasn't examined you tell you they know better than my doctor specialist and physio and myself on what I can and can't do and that I'm lying. I have a constant empty feeling In my stomach and I'm waking at night going over it in my mind. Why when you're so poorly do you have to go through this. I'm going to go doctors as its affecting my mental health. I'm thrown by the sheer lack of understanding and support from the pip advisor. I was so honest and she had basically said I'm lying and she knows better. I'm in shock and feeling defeated by society 😕

Hello @Coco78. How did you get on with your doctor? Were they able to offer any more support with regards to your mental health? Have you thought whether you plan to appeal the decision?

Hi @Adrian_Scope they seem to have disregarded all medicines and evidence sent along with the application along with my medical assessment and based it on a previous 2018 assessment in which they also lied. I didn't have the energy to appeal that one as I was homeless at the time after leaving my husband. My sister has spoken with pip and we've done a reconsideration as pip said it shouldn't of been based on an old application. It's exhausting. On assessment call the assessor said she hadn't read all my supporting evidence as there was so much. I have since had a full home assessment from social services with shower stool bed rail etc and I'm on extremely dangerous medication but they said I had none of this stuff. It's odd as it's all down in paperwork. I've hold off doctors as I don't want pip to put me on pills but let's see how the reconsideration goes. I just with they would actually read the full application properly and not flat out lie. Thank you for your message.

Hi Coco, just wanted to comment as I really feel for you, you are clearly going through it at the moment. I’m so very sorry you have had a bad experience with your assessment. I had an assessment back in 2016 with a very similar outcome (made to feel like a liar, incorrect reporting etc) I didn’t have the strength to fight it at the time. It put me in bed in a deep depression for 2 weeks. However all I can say to you is keep going, if you can. Do you have anyone who can help you?  I know it’s so very hard when the assessment report reads like it is written about someone else, but when completing your mandatory reconsideration (if you get to that stage, don’t forget assessment report isn’t the final decision) by all means make sure that you point out all inconsistencies, also have a look at the descriptors and try to explain why you have difficulty and what happens when you try.
Sending you lots of love and really hope that you feel better really soon. The PIP process on top of feeling poorly is a really stressful time. Take care xx
