five years ago i had a home visit assessment for pip which I had received for a number of years. the assessor was very abrupt with me and didnt want to listen to what i had to say.I live on my own im 73 Besides having severe arthritis in my legs and really bad lymphodema, atrial fibrilation and vertigo and anxiety which meant I could hardy walk ,and had never been able to leave the house without someone to help me with a wheelchair. I had been like that for over five years when the assessor came.she made me feel like a scrounger and a liar, she told me I didnt look ill and said there was no evidence I was suffering from mental health that was because i had tried two types of antidepessants which didnt suit me and i was waiting to see the docter about a different type.  I lost my mobility part of pip and only got lower amount of daily living pip. Iwas so stressed I didnt know how to word the mandatory letter and was in such a state I rang dwp crying telling them I couldnt write down how to explain my circumstances and i wanted to cancel it all, fortunatley the man I spoke to calmed me down and told me to make a cup of tea and he would look at my case,He rang me back and when he had read my case notes he could not believe what had happened,I had letters from my local hospice that deals with lymphodema letters from xray department and physiotherapists. he gave me back my mobility and the lower part of daily living allowance. But since having to deal with what I went through with the assessor has left my mental health worse I now dont leave the house only to go to docters and hospital and the hospice appointments and i need help to go to these, over the last few years my heart condition has got worse and I regularly have had to phone an ambulance and have to go to hospital because fast heartbeat or I have to ring an ambulance for falls, i have emergency button i wear all the time that connects me to the homecare team, I have never been in any shops or had any type of social life since this incident I do all my shopping online and my family take care of my other needs ive even had to do a power of attorney because i cant cope with financial commitments.  and after working full time since my husband died when i was 38 and having to bring my three children up on my own without claiming any benefits I was appalled that I and probably lots of others had to be treated like this. So i hope you can stop these assessors treating elderley people in a disgusting way
