Hey all I really need some help. I will try anf make it as clear as possible. So currently I am on / claim
-Income support with server disabled premium
- pip for myself
-pip for my son ( I am his apointee)
- careers allance for my son
- child benefit for 2 children
-child tax credits with disabled child element
 - full council tax exemption (smi server mental impairment)
- housing benefit

My problem is that the new area I am moving to 120miles away so under a different local authority and council only allows UC claims.
Which benefits from the above will be stopped??
Can I still claim any of the above aswell as the UC?
How will claiming UC effect free school meals and prescriptions?
Realistically how long do the claims take?
How do I get my council tax exemption transfered?
Do I have to go register with a new doctors and get another form signed?
Will I still receive my cost of living payment. ??

We are fleeing from domestic violence so any help or information on any of the above or anything you think that will be helpful to me I would appreciate massively. I am running out of money and time

I have also posted this in UC and PIP room to be sure that I will get a response. However I will delete the other two once I get a reply from one of these posts Thank you

I am running out of money and time I have posted this in the UC and Benefits discussion board too as I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to respond. I will of course remove it from the other 2 rooms if I get a response from this one or visa versa

It is only the Housing Benefit that the local authority cannot accept because HB has been demolished for new claims (except for those in temporary or supported accommodation).

Everything else is currently unchanged except the Council Tax Reduction. For Council Tax Reduction you need to make a new claim to the new local authority.

If you want help with rent you would have to claim UC. However making a claim will end your Tax Credit and Income Support. You should get someone to check a benefits calculation to check whether you are worse off claiming or not.
    https://advicelocal.uk/.

As you are still getting IS you should still be eligible for the next CoL payment (although we don’t yet know the qualifying date).

I am still getting IS atm as I am currently still living at my old house. I signed up for the keys and new tendency last week. My new housing officer said that if I change my address with IS then my IS will be stopped as it’s not available in that area and it will be classed as a change in circumstances so therefore I will need to close my current IS claim and start a new claim for UC ( if IS was available there then she said I would have to do a rapid reclaim for IS)

I don’t think she knows anything about what’s, what with benefits because I know for a fact that you can’t have a new claim for IS even if it is a rapid reclaim not under a new local authority

so I have no clue what to do. Or what benefits are going to be affected

Your IS is not affected by where you live. You would simply report your change of address but the IS will continue.

IS has nothing to do with your local authority. IS is a DAwP benefit.

What has changed is that your HB will stop and you cannot claim HB at the new authority. As advised in my earlier report If you want to claim help with rent then you would need to claim UC. It is the claiming UC that would stop your IS and CTC. If you do not claim UC the IS and UC continue. That’s why it is important to check first which benefits will give you higher income - likely to be UC but might not be (particularly as you have help with a disabled child).

Note - PIP, CB and CA are not affected regardless of whether you get IS or UC.
