    noooooo don't believe it butter as well as jam and cream ha ha
    My favourite cake at the moment - Morrisons do a lovely square fruit scone, it tastes just like a rock cake, but lighter, i'm addicted to them at the moment, jam and thick cream only butter if no cream left ha ha x

    Cream then jam
    @L_Volunteer I think that's the best answer :) Fortnum & Mason, who know a thing or 2 about afternoon tea, say the best way to eat them is however you like, and to ignore that old aunty who insists there is a "correct" way to eat them. :D

    Really @66Mustang? The "I'll have it however it comes please as long as I can have some!"  :D

    @L_Volunteer

    I found the article, it says

    Fortnum and Mason said:

    How to eat a scone

    Instead of cutting the scone in half, break it off piece by piece. Spread it with clotted cream and then jam. Or jam and then clotted cream. Why not try both in turn? It’s time that Great Aunt learned just what a rugged individualist you are.

    So there. :D

    Oh, what a wonderful person you are! Finding articles that support my "rugged individualist" mindset. Thank you @66Mustang :D

    @L_Volunteer I didn't know what that meant so looked it up, and learnt a new word! :) I now like the sound of being a collectivist though!! :smiley:

    My family hail from the border of Devon and Cornwall, and good grief, that is a right old hornet's nest right there! Personally, I think it should be made law for it to be Jam, then Cream, as it is the way polite people do it(!) with no need for any other pollutants!
