PIP journey/anxiety

Hello. Just a little bit about me and my PIP journey. I finally bit the bullet and applied on 6th June 22 (started claim) after previously scoring zero points following a review in 2016. I was too upset and poorly at this time to appeal. So new claim started this year, had my video assessment on 26th July, requested my report which I received a couple of weeks later. Even though they have my mobile number and I have requested text message updates I haven’t received one throughout the process. I called yesterday and my claim is still in a queue to be looked at. The wait is causing me terrible anxiety as I know it does others on here, so I just wanted to share as I have been using this forum for advice

Hi @lou54321, frustratingly there is a big backlog and claims are taking longer than normal. Apparently they are prioritising new claims over renewals, but you've probably still got a bit of a wait ahead, which probably won't help with the anxiety. I'm sorry can't reassure you more, but I'll keep my fingers crossed you hear back soon.0

Hello Adrian. Thank you so much for your reply . Mine is a new claim so I secretly hoped for a quicker turnaround, but I know I can be waiting up to 12 weeks for a decision. I just didn’t realise how badly it would affect my anxiety. It doesn’t help that my son transitioned from DLA to PIP and by sheer coincidence had his assessment the day before mine. He has already received his decision. It’s just a bit of a lottery in terms of decision times I think. Hope that I hear soon as I need to get some extra help which I will need to pay for. Thanks again for your reply.0

It's good that your son got his decision back so quickly @lou54321. Hopefully yours won't be too far behind and you won't have to wait much longer.0
