I'm sorry to hear this. Please don't give up hope because you can challenge the decision. When you filled out the review form did you give as much relevant information as possible and treat it as a new claim?

Your next step is to request the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) you have 1 month from the date of the decision to request this and you should put that in writing, please do not ring them. You should state where and why you think you should have scored those points.

I would wait until you receive the decision letter before doing this so you can see if any points were scored and where.

If you're outside of the 1 month timescale you must tell them why you didn't request it within that time. You have 13 months to challenge it.

    Hello @Cruising2020.

I know it must have come as quite a shock and can imagine you're feeling very stressed and worried at the moment.

You do have options though and if you want to appeal the decision the first stage of this is a mandatory reconsideration. When you feel up to it, you can find some information about appealing a benefit decision on our website.

It sounds like you're going through an incredibly tough time, and if you’re having suicidal thoughts, please consider contacting Samaritans on 116 123 or email them at jo@samaritans.org – they are available 24/7 and can offer support during difficult moments.

Another good option is Mind on 0300 123 3393 or visiting their website at www.mind.org.uk.

Please remember, if any time you feel that you may be in any immediate danger, call 999 or go to your local hospital right away.
