Anyone else got more money going out than coming in

Me and my wife have been through a hard time because of our age difference. She is retired and i am not allowed to work due to health reasons. We were shocked when my wife became retired and we lost £700 every four weeks in Universal credit. That has hit us hard and next year we maybe forced to sell our house to survive and either go into rented accomodation or move in with our daughter
- The cost of living increase has now hit us hard. We are being so careful on what we are using. We have not had the gas on for heating for the past three months even though my doctors have told me i have to keep warm at all times. We have a combi boiler and the only time we use the gas is when we have a bath or shower. Even though we are not using the gas, we have been told our direct debit is going up to £100 a month, our electric direct debit is £90 a month. When we enquired about reducing our gas direct debit to around £60 a month they said they can do it but we must pay them £860 up front which is shocking.
We are selling items to try and survive and just wondering if anyone else is going through what we are going through

Have you considered taking in a lodger or student if you live near a university city. I don’t know though if this would effect any benefits.I would also look for some free financial advice.0
