Pip review

Hi, I'm new here
I have had a telephone assessment 3 weeks ago as part of my pip review following a change of circumstances i informed the dwp of.

The assessment lasted over 2 hours, and I have not heard anything from the dwp since.

My original claim was refused but the decision was changed following MR and I was awarded standard for both daily living and mobility. My assessment only lasted 20 minutes for this.

I am really concerned that this assessment lasted so much longer than the previous one and that as the original was awarded after a MR that this is not looking good.

I was naive with reporting a change to my condition and even though it is worsening I did not fully understand what could happen by reporting the change until it was too late.

Does the fact that the original award was granted after MR, will this impact a decision makers view?
Should I be preparing to submit another  MR.

sorry for long post, I'm just so anxious about this and I have no one to talk to about this

The length of time the assessment took doesn't indicate anything at all. An assessment can last anywhere from 20 to 120 minutes, sometimes longer.
Decisions are currently taking between 2-12 weeks so 3 weeks after the assessment is well within this timescale. All you can is wait for the decision, once it's made if you're not happy you can request the MR.

The length of the assessments means nothing.
A decision can take up to 12 weeks from DWP receiving the assessment report.
The fact that last award followed an MR makes no difference.

    Thank you for your reply,

I have not had a text to say the dwp has received my assessment report, do they always send one?

Is the time frame of 2-12 weeks from receiving a text or from assessment?

Also I have seen people saying to request the report before receiving any decision to prepare of a MR. Is this because they are refusing most claims?

Sorry for all the questions it's just I don't remember it being like this previously, and I am seeing a lot of bad things about pip etc as I have googled it this time as so anxious

Sorry again for the long post

From when the report is returned to DWP. If you put a mobile number down on the form then they usually text once it's received. Your report could be in an audit, if it is it's nothing for you to worry about they are just checked the assessor did their job correctly. There's no timescales how long it will remain in audit. Once it's completed they will return it.
Asking for a copy of the report before the decision is made isn't always the best idea because it often causes more anxiety that you may already be experiencing. If you have to go down the MR route you don't need the report to do this.
Remember, you will mostly only read the bad stories.

I had my accessment on the 28th sept. I called pip yesterday to see what's happing as I haven't heard anything. Just as well I called as apparently capita tried to call me back last Thursday ( I had no missed calls or calls) they needed a bit more info. So again its now a waiting game. My point is don't always listen to other people do what you think you should do

Thank you for letting me know this, this must be so frustrating hopefully now you have phoned dwp they will sort it.
Did they advise you what will happen now or do you just need to wait for capita to contact you?
I think I will contact dwp today and just check what is happening with my claim

I have contacted pip and my assessment is in audit, was told to add another 2 weeks on the timescale for my decision.
The waiting is nerve racking and now an extra 2 weeks

Please be aware that when a report is in audit there's no timescales how long it will remain there. The longest i've known a report remain in audit is 6 weeks and this was for my daughters PIP.

Oh dear, hopefully it won't be that long.  At least I know its in audit and I can prepare myself for the wait to be closer to (or over) the 12 weeks than the 8 week timescale.

Thank you for everyone's responses it means alot to know I'm not the only one in this waiting game

I am not normally an anxious person, and now I know my report is in audit I'll be fine.

I just didn't know what was happening and so did the worse thing I could and googled it, won't do that again!

I think the pip process is flawed and this can make it so daunting at times, it's just nice sometimes to know you're not the only one experiencing something and be reminded that it's mainly the negative you tend to see and not enough positive

I decided to request my report, I'm glad I did.

It is a fair and an honest account of the assessment. Totally different from my first experience. I wonder if this is because I had a nurse this time round with some understanding of my conditions?

I have looked at the ticks given by the assessor and used them to complete the self test and based on them it looks as though the assessor has recommended an award of enhanced for both daily living and mobility.

I am still waiting for my claim to be seen by a decision maker, was advised it is in a queue to be seen, but hopefullytheygo with the report.

@lunalou Thanks for the update and that sounds like really encouraging news. I'm glad you feel the report accurately reflects your conditions and how they impact you. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the decision following suit. Please let us know how you get on and good luck!
