Do they currently claim any benefits their self? If so, which ones?I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Thanks. When he moves in with you, you will need to report the changes to ESA and they will assess your claim to include a payment for him, providing he doesn’t have savings or capital of more than £16,000.As you correctly stated your SDP will end. He will be able to claim Carers allowance for looking after you. Yes it will be deducted in full from your ESA but they will add a carers premium of £38.85:week. He will then be paid the carers allowance separately.
You may want to use a benefits calculator to check how much Universal Credit you’ll be entitled to. As you maybe better off claiming this.
He could continue to work and claim carers element for looking after you. You will be entitled to a work allowance which means a certain amount of earnings received each month will be ignored before the deductions apply.
Please note the earnings limit of £132/week if he claims carers allowance. Though he doesn’t need to claim this to be entitled to the carers element.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. Thank you poppy so does this mean if I lose sdp and they take of the carers allowance he will only have £38.00 to live off sorry but I get so confused

Your ESA will include extra money for him. Are you in the Support Group?

If your in the Support Group then your ESA will include the following..£121.05 because you live with a partner.£25.35 couples Enhanced disability premium£40.60 because you're in the Support Group. Total amount per week £187.... £374/fornight.If your partner claims Carers allowance then your ESA will be £156.15/week ... £312.30/fortnight.Then your partner will receive £69.70/week carers allowance. Therefore your comibined weekly income with Carers allowance and your ESA will be £225.85/week... £451.70/fortnight.As i advised use a benefits calculator to check how much you would be entitled to if you claimed UC. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/Intro/Home?cid=7acff6d5-0a78-4f48-92f4-75b16c7de53c

I have just telephone them to tell them he’s moving in and they have suspended my claim is this normal they are sending out a form to fill in this has made me so anxious now as I hope it won’t be a new claim I thought it could be done over phne

As he actually moved in with you yet? If not then you should have waited until he did. If he has then suspending it while they reassess your entitlement based on your joint circumstances is correct. It won't be a new claim because you already have an award in payment. Please also check entitlement to UC as advised.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please.
