My blood pressure was rising to 140/80 and I was asked to attend a clinic at my GP surgery with the pharmacist - who doubled the size of my Atenelol (that I have been taking for 10 years) - the result an INCREASED blood pressure (now average 160/90) - how can this be ?Now prescribed 50mgAnyone else heard of increased dose of Atenelol having the reverse effect that it should have ?I have another appointment with the pharmacist tomorrow morning !0

I know how you are feeling I have the same problem s a hay fever sufferer.0

I've not heard of a reverse effect on your blood pressure before. I know some people get reverse effects to medications for other ailments but that's strange considering you've been taking it for ten years.
How are you feeling now? Hopefully the appointment tomorrow morning goes better!0 -

That's good to hear
It is very strange, I'm sorry to say Wibbles, if you keep it up you may be subjected to government testing (I am joking, sorry if it doesn't land)0 -
I have an ECG at my GP arranged a week after Christmas - hopefully that will allow them to figure out what is happening ?

As durhamjaide said, we aren't medically trained. But if you have your results and you have questions or would like a second opinion, your GP can refer you to a specialist (if you don't already have one) for one
I've done that a few times when I've had test results back.0
