Hi I have just been turned down for pip, I have recently been diagnosed with moderate to severe adhd but have suffered with depression and anxiety for 20 years. I received 0 points, I work as a mental health support worker, and struggle daily with anxiety, and managing my emotions, they also said I don't have a cognitive impairment but recently had an assessment and it shows that I am low in scoring regarding visual impairment, also they said I drive a manual car but during my assessment I did say that I need an automatic due to forgetting to change car and also I keep moving my foot up and down on the accelerator, so i kangaroo alot, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

You can challenge that decision by requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration. (MR) You should put that in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points. My advice is not to concentrate too much on the reasons for refusal because a lot of it will be standard copy and paste reasons.Concentrate on the weakness in your evidence. Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each activity that applies to you. Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the concequences were.Do remember that PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis. It's how those conditions affect you against the 12 PIP activities. Whilst people do work and claim PIP, if the work you do contradicts the reasons why you're claiming PIP then it can go against you.The most likely outcome of the MR will be the decision remains the same. If this happens you can proceed to Tribunal.1

Welcome to the community @suelilly Thank you for joining us!
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received the award you were hoping for. I can see that poppy123456 has already given you some advice on submitting an MR.
Is that something you'd feel able to do? You have some time to do it.
I was also wondering whether you're currently receiving any support to help you manage your ADHD, depression, or anxiety?0 -
Hi I am on medication for adhd and medication, I have a consultant psychiatrist that I meet with yearly now for my adhd, my gp sees me about anxiety meds, I have also had a cognitive assessment through a clinical physiologist, and it has flagged up that my brain is unable to cope with visual things like shapes and reading of books etc so these will need to be broken down, I am just waiting for the report to be written. Thanks sue0
