I've had my phone assessment today. How long from now until I hear something?

Hi, I applied for pip in September , I've had my phone assesment today, I'm not to sure how it went as I'm such a mess at the moment, does anyone have any idea how long from now until I might hear something? I won't hold my breath though as I know a lot of mental health claims get rejected.

My understanding is that it can take between around 2 to 12 weeks for them to make a decision once they've received the report. 

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling too good at the moment. Do you have someone you can lean on for support today? 

I know it's far easier said than done, but try and take your mind off of it for now if you can. Is there an activity you could do that usually helps to distract you from something stressful?

Thanks for that, in guessing each one is different, can I request a copy of the report do you know?

I've got my dogs and my partner and kids once they get home so I will be okay luckily! It's just a hard time thank you

Once the report is returned to DWP you can request a copy. Though you need to remember that it's not the decision, it's a recommendation only. Requesting the report isn't always the best idea because it does tend to cause even more anxiety that you may already be experiencing. In a lot of cases, it's better to wait for the decision to be made.

How will I know when it has been returned to the DWP?

The person I spoke to today has said he has no say about anything it's all so confusing I think I will just wait to hear from them

You may get a text although it isn’t confirmed you will.

Ah okay thank you, I think it's best if probably don't see the report and ill just wait to see if I receive any texts or a letter

I received a text this morning to say that the DWP have received my report and they should be in touch within 8 weeks with my decision

Although they say 8 weeks it can take 12.
