ESA--Accrued Holidays

Hi,
I am currently claiming contribution based ESA and after 8 months I have been placed into the support group.
I am still employed and accruing holidays, my employer has give me the option of taking some of my accrual ,would this cause problems with my ESA payments?
I Cant find a definite answer anywhere, even when I spoke to someone at the DWP they would not commit either way.
Has anyone taken Holidays in this situation? Or can someone please give me some info.
Thanks for reading

If you are currently working then the holiday pay is treated as earnings and the permitted work rules apply. So if the holiday pay is more than £152/week after deductions then you won't be entitled to ESA for that week.If you are not working then the holiday pay is ignored.1

Thanks for the reply,
I knew i would miss some info, I am still employed but haven't worked for 17 months.
So any payment for accrued holidays would not affect my payments for ESA?0 -

That's correct. Being employed is different to actually working.

Im in the same boat, Total Knee Replacement and SSP ran out, firm didnt inform me,so i filled online form in for ESA and was wondering if firm still has to pay me holiday pay while on sick,thanx0

Hi @Paulno1
You accrue holidays while off sick you could talk to your employer to see if they would pay you any of this they are not legally required to do so while you are off
Once you return to work you should take any outstanding holiday if that isn't possible it can be 0aid up or carried over to next year
Your company should have this detail in the long term absence policy0 -
