Hi, my name is Becky. What can I do to get a response from DWP about my carers allowance?

Evening - can anyone suggest what I can do to get a response from DWP about my carers allowance - My husband was awarded carers allowance in May this year and received money backdated then he received a letter asking for his wage information and since then have had no payments made - Hubby has been calling and each time is told that someone will ring him back but nobody does then we go through the whole thing again - we are into week 2 of trying - Is ringing DWP the only way to get some answers as to where the payments are or why they have stopped ?

Hi Becky,
I hope someone else has a better answer for your question because I'd love to know this too.
I'm nearing week 11 of waiting for my application for CA to come through, but I have also been hearing waits of 12 and even 15 weeks or more. I know mine is not the same situation, but there seems to be a huge backlog across all the departments of the DWP for whatever reason I cannot imagine. With people even waiting for PIP for months on end.
Others have reported success in getting their MP involved which provides a quick decision and response, but this will depend on your MP though whether they do this or not.
I wish I could offer more, but I hope it helps to know for now that you both are not alone in your wait, until a better answer comes along on here0 -

Welcome to the community @Beckychanceux It's great to have you on board!
It can unfortunately be really difficult to get through to them sometimes. Has your husband been able to make any progress with them today?0
