Hi all, I have fybromyalgia and suffer extreme pain and often can't walk far due to paid in my back. Does anyone know if I could get some crutches to try and relieve the "weight" and pain I experience? Also, if I could get some, how do I go about it? Sorry for asking, but I am slowly having to accept my condition and have no idea how to go about things.

You can either refer yourself for a needs assessment from your local Authority https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/help-from-social-services-and-charities/getting-a-needs-assessment/The only downside of the referral is you could be waiting 6 months.Or you can just buy some crutches yourself. If you want the basic NHS looking ones they start from as little as £25. You can buy them from amazon or you can just do a google search yourself. Sorry but i can't put a link to advertise anything here because scope don't allow this.

I have a tri walker and I find it very useful.
You can also get walkers with seat.
Mine is a drive tri walker and it helps me with my balance etc
I personally found this easier than crutches but everyone is different.
Maybe your GP could refer you to a occupational therapist as this was who supplied mine.0 -
You can self refer as poppy has advised you don't need your gp to do this0

It's quicker if you refer yourself rather than go through your GP.

That is fantastic that you can self refer I didn't know you could do that!
The hospital or GP done all my referrals.
As Poppy123456 and janer1967 has advised would be quicker to self refer.
Hope you get the aids soon.0
