Bad Night!

Hi

What a night my daughter had a panic attack again that would not subside, I had to call ambulance as her heart was pounding and numbness in arm. Due to her agoraphobia we could not get her to hospital.

Just sat here now and a text from DWP saying we have not made a decision on your claim yet we will write to you with a decision once made.
Is this a standard message or could there be something else?

Thanks in advance
Joyce

Hope she's feeling a little better now. It's a standard text.

    Yes, that's just a standard message @jf53 :)

Were the paramedics able to help her recover a little at home? Along with the others, I hope that she's feeling a little better today.

    Hi
Well, We still cannot get her out of the house! The paramedics did want her to go to have x-ray & bloods done. We asked if she would be able to go into a space where she would not have to sit in crowded room.
They could not guarantee this! So she got really upset and could not go. They said Call GP this morning she had to wait for call back! That came at 2pm and again the doctor said she would like further checks but she cannot get out of the house! The panic and fear, The tears and shaking at the mention of it is heart breaking.  :'(

I find it bizarre that a hospital cannot cater for someone who has severe Agoraphobia who needs test/treatment. So the doctor said if anything changes phone 999 she is going to call back on Monday.
The thing with that is she cannot get out of the house through the fear of having to sit in a waiting room full of people. It's not that the issue is waiting that's fine, It's her fear of being in open/crowded places.
Feel so helpless with it all.

Hello @JF53 I'm so sorry to hear that you and your daughter have been having a difficult time lately.

It might not help much, but I'd like to share a blog from the mental health charity Mind about a young woman's experience of agoraphobia which you or your daughter may like to read. Managing a phobia isn't easy by any means, but with the right support it is possible to lessen it's effects.

I hope you'll be hearing more about the PIP application soon, and in the meantime, the community is here if you need to reach out.
