Reasonable adjustments in the workplace- Stammer
I have been refused a reasonable adjustment to work in a private room to help with my stammer/stutter during ad hoc telephone tasks. My employer was told about my disability during the early stages of employment, after starting job. My stammer did not require adjustments during the interview as it was face to face. The office where I work is a really small open plan room, and this was not shown to me at interview and has equally added towards my worsening stammer on the telephone.
I have been refused working from home for telephone work and also refused use of a private room at work for telephone work.
Does anyone know what other reasonable requests I can ask for to support a stammer? I need help and advice urgently as I’m feeling anxious and upset daily.

Hi and welcome to the community
I suggest you discuss what can be done with your employer if they have any suggestions
A referral to oh may help they can do a work place assessment and suggest reasonable adjustments1 -
Hello there @CMG and welcome, I'm sorry to read about how you've been feeling lately, it can't be easy when you suddenly find out something which doesn't work for you, or which makes things feel worse.
Have you agreed to any reasonable adjustments at this stage? ACAS has some guidance on asking for adjustments, as well as reviewing them, and what to do if an employer does not make adjustments.
If it helps, you can contact the ACAS helpline, or the Scope Helpline (who you can email), to run through things with an adviser.
If there's anything else we can help with in the meantime, let us know

Thank you both for your responses. @Alex_Scope- I have not yet asked for adjustments but I soon will. I need to know what adjustments I have the right to ask for.I would like to ask for private space whether this being at work or at home (for telephone work only) I.e make calls before coming into work or at end of day. Or asking for reallocation of work between colleagues, so I can complete computer work and that the telephone work is assigned to another colleague. Both which I would say is reasonable but my mangers would disagree, so I need to have some back up from others so my voice is not the only one being heard, as it’s not enough for my managers to listen and accept my stammer and request for support.I shall contact ACAS and also scope helpline via email and include all the information that I have so far.Thank you so much for your advice and for listening1
