Is it right that someone with a lifelong degenerative condition should be re assessed?

Do we think it is right that someone with a lifelong degenerative condition should be re assessed at all, especially when these so called specialists know it will get worse?

At the moment the best seems to be an 'ongoing' award, i.e. for 10 years. Please see: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-personal-independence-payment-pip-toolkitwhich says,
'Ongoing awards with a ‘light touch’ review
This is for claimants who have:
- very stable needs which are unlikely to change over time
- high level needs which will either stay the same or get worse
- a planned award review date due on or at State Pension age
These claimants would not usually be expected to have a face-to-face assessment at review.'
So, with this scenario it looks like more assessments would not be needed.

There’s nothing stopping you from requesting a 10 year award and include the reasons why you think this should apply. Also ask them if a 10 year award can’t be given ask what evidence they based their decision on.3
