Rent arrears. Is there some sort of discount I can aplly for?

Hi I'm on esa income related & support group I had a worker a while back but she wasn't turning up to see me eventually she left so I get another one so I've ended up in this situation off rent & council tax arrears & don't have a clue what I could be intilited . I ended up in rent arrears cause my 19 year old son started working 3 months ago and I didn't know I was to fill anything in I got a form through recently and let then know he's working on a low paid job anyway I've got the bills here and the council don't seem to be of any help I'm just looking to see if it's all right or is there some sort of discount I can aplly for? I'm sorry to say that I don't have a huge knowledge base on this. I don't believe there are any discounts per say, but I did find this helpful page on the Citizen's Advice website with lots of information. I hope it helps you or that my comment bumps your post and somebody else in the community has a clearer answer0 -
There's information here regarding Discretionary housing payments. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/claiming-discretionary-housing-payments/claiming-discretionary-housing-paymentsYou can only claim if you're currently claiming help with the rent. If you are then you should get some help filling out the forms because they are quite complex.You won't be able to apply for help with your council tax arrears through this though.0
