My husband is a first time pip claimant (August 22)
He has had his assessment and we received notification that the medical report was now being considered. (10/11/22)
Today we received an unannounced phone call , all they would say was the letter would be sent within 10 days. They asked no questions at all.
I asked if she could tell me if an award was made but she said she didn’t know as it had only just landed on her desk.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so did they get an award or was it turned down?

Sounds like a very strange phone call to me. If you gave a mobile number on the form you filled in then if successfully awarded your husband should receive a text message. I've not heard of a text message being sent for a refusal.

It was strange and took us by surprise.  They called on the mobile I’d given on form.
I would have understood if they’d called to ask questions but they just wanted to verify his DOB and post code.

It bothers me more that DWP are dealing with clients who for one reason or another may not have a full grasp on identity safety, yet they call unannounced and ask for personal details without any verification that they are genuine themselves.

I am just glad I was home to take the call.

If you were unsure who they were then you didn’t have to answer their questions.

    Thank you Poppy,
Fortunately  I’m pretty clued up on such things and certainly don’t answer unsolicited callers with personal information.

I was highlighting the irresponsibility of DWP as not everyone is cautious and are often too trusting, which can result in a safeguarding issues. Particularly for those with memory and mental health issues.

You are welcome @Nana0403. It is the very least you deserve.

It sounds really positive that you are pretty clued up on such things and certainly don't answer unsolicited callers with personal information.

I hear you with some people not being cautious though and often too trusting which can result in safeguarding issues.

Hopefully, your posts will help keep some of those people safe by raising awareness! Thanks for contributing to making this a supportive and friendly space  :)
