I have a petition running with over 7,500 signatures so far regarding requesting the government fund and build more special schools I hope your interested and will circulate thanks Graeme 😊

My petition is for those families including my own who really need a special school but are having to be turned away or forced to go through a long stressful fight and tribunal just to attempt to obtain the education there child so desperately needs and deserves to thrive because so many special schools across all four nations are full

A good cause but I think if any external links are being shared it has to go into the research category as some of us is vulnerable here and would sign up to anything and not know the dangers.

We have a lot of petitions here on the community and they don't have to go into that category. I don't see any dangers of signing any petition.

Are there any particular types of schools you think we need more of @SueHeath? I am sensing a particular increase for SEND schools and alternative provision schools  :)

Glad you are fine @durhamjaide2001. I did enjoy the Christmas break thank you - ate too much food, spent a lot of time in pyjamas and spent time with my family. How was your Christmas break?  :)

Happy New Year to you, nice to see you.
Yes my nephew has really severe autism, he had to go to a special school from 5yrs, sister in law had a choice of two that would except my nephew, both in our Authority but not within easy access for my sister in law to get to, with out taxi's. Luckily my nephew had transport pick him up and take home. He is 21yrs old now and at a special college, he has a place there till he is 25yrs but that's in a totally different Authority, which once again he gets transport, but Mom has to have a taxi if she needs to bring him home. The college is 45mins drive away.
We are very lucky as both places that my nephew has been/goes to are out standing. The work they have done with my nephew is amaizing, although we know he will never be able to live an independent life.
My sister in law is in a local support group and they have many members who have struggled to get their children into these schools and a few local primary's have opened up units for students that can tolerate main stream, but there are also students that are in these units that should be in the main special school, but there are no places. x

Happy new year to you too @SueHeath. Nice to see you too, as always.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I am sure your experiences will be invaluable for anyone experiencing anything similar.

I completely hear you. It is really important to find the provision that is right for each individual but sometimes this is prevented by the number of spaces.

    Keep advocating  <3
