Official statistics for the 5 years ending July indicate that 34% of PIP awards are changed at MR. However in the period of three months ending July only 23% were changed which is indicative of a downward trend.

I have certainly managed to get awards changed at MR stage in the past.1 -
Wow only 23%, the last time i looked it was about 27%. We have had some members that have had the decision changed at MR stage.

Hi! I recently had mine changed at the MR stage from no eligibility to enhanced on both parts. It can happen and does! I feel blessed that I succeeded at this stage and did not have to face a Tribunal.4

That's an amazing result1

And I totally agree. I lost out on only 2 points. They missed out that I'd put on my form and said to the assessor that I need my husband to help me dress my lower body. It was just totally overlooked. Not mentioned and so I scored zero points. I just couldn't believe it. So I've put in my MR and now I'm hoping I get a positive result like you got ☺️1

It sounds really frustrating that you put it on your form and it was totally overlooked @Mumpsy. How are you feeling about putting in your MR?
I am wishing you the best of luck with this. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to support you with this.
We are all here for you and listening to you. Take care for now and we will look forward to hopefully hearing from you again soon1 -
Thank you so very much for your kind words. I'm feeling a tiny bit hopeful but I will let you know as soon as I find out thank you1

I rang yesterday and a decision was already made last week and denied. I explained that I think the wrong thing has been marked and that if it had been correct in the first place, I would have had enough points to receive standard allowance.
She did the reconsideration over the phone and now just have to wait. Was told that reconsiderations are taking on average 3 weeks. So now the waiting game begins again x0 -

So now the waiting game begins again xI'd advise you to put that request in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points.MR decisions are currently taking between 2-12 weeks so that 3 weeks is very optimistic.0 -
She did say about writing but Im unable to due to my carpel tunnel. I did all of my application online as I am ok to type with my other hand. She said that it couldnt be done online so she would do it for me whilst I was on the phone with her. I received the text shortly after to say it had been received so I will see what happens next.
She did say the average is 3 weeks currently but with holidays now, it will most likely be longer and have been advise to wait till mid/end Jan0 -
It sounds really difficult that it couldn't be done online @EllieD, especially as you find typing with your other hand more accessible than writing.
It sounds positive that she did it for you whilst you were on the phone with her though. Good luck with the application. How are you currently feeling about the wait?
Please feel free to let us know how it goes and if you need any support in the meantime. We are all here for you and listening to you0 -
Just an update.
I received a call from DWP yesterday. The man was very nice and agreed that I was correct in that I should have received the additional 2 points and that it was marked incorrectly. He stated it as human error and has processed my backpay and to expect an award letter with details of payments and dates.
I was so surprised as I was almost certain that my MR would be refused as I know very little are actually changed.
As I am waiting for surgery on both hands, he has put it for review after 2 years. I am so happy that I put MR in.
Mumpsy have you an update on yours? x0 -
So sorry I've been poorly with shingles and not been on here. I found out three days ago that my MR has been turned down . They awarded me 0 points for dressing myself even though I've made it very clear that my husband has to help me with tights and shoes and underwear. I feel so disheartened. They said the next step is tribunal but I don't think I can face that0
-
I hope you feel better soon @Mumpsy! Do you have everything you need?
I'm sorry to hear about your MR outcome. This is quite common, unfortunately.
It's understandable if you don't feel as though you could face a tribunal at the moment. That being said, many people find it's not as bad as they expect. If you consider going to tribunal, I'd encourage you to get some expert support with this. You can find out what's available in your area by searching on advicelocal.uk0 -
@Mumpsy
Sorry about your MR result there’s not many change at that stage. And I’m so sorry youv been ill.I think you should wait till you feel better. And decide about tribunal, you have a much higher chance. Iv had to do 2 and won at both.
You have 4 weeks to do this, but if your over that in special circumstances you have upto 13mths, with a valid reason.
I hope you feel better soon.
Take care ❤️0 -
The most likely outcome of any MR decision will it remains the same, so it's not surprising. You have much more chance of a decision in your favour at Tribunal stage, providing you either appear in person or request a telephone, video hearing because it's about a 70% success rate.Paper based hearings have a much less success rate of around 5-8% so i wouldn't advise this option. It can be a long process but it's definitely the route to go down if you still think you can score enough of points needed for an award. Starting the process again with a new claim is not the best option. You do have 13 months to request this, with good reason if you're outside the 1 month deadline. Do be aware though that they can't take into consideration any worsening of condition.1

I'm about to attempt to MR to recent reveiw, I'll let you know the outcome.
I've sp3nt the last week just going over errors alone with the report. I'm only going to point out the ones I think relate to my MR possibility of changing the decision non the less its very degrading analysing my situation in depth.
, analise and write am MR incl a 10 day diary where I've had trouble standing at all for 3 days due to trapped cartridge on knee from injury, I've hut my back again sitting at a desk trying to type 5 days of immobility due to this. All this sitting around is making me worse.
All I have upto now is lots of miscellaneous information.
I had a telephone consultation. I wasn't prepared for this whatsoever.
In many of the descriptors the hcp points out that I wouldn't be able to do these things reliably but still reduced points.
I guess it's a easy as explaining why I deserved more points and why and reference my diary where I've needed help and had it or didn't.
I've kept my diary of sleep aponea knee problems. Back problems, how much I've actually walked in steps that day and how much problems have even exacerbated by doing more trying to keep some sort of activity in tying to maintain injured arthritic joints.
