Hey I'm looking for some advice in regards to my autistic 5yr old daughters ehcp plan . She was issued a ehcp plan roughly to £14000. A big part of that was for a 1 to 1 trusted aupport person. My daughter has been in the school since reception and now is in year 1 . She was given a 1 to 1 in reception and it took about 5 months for my daughter to trust and build a solid relationship with her. My daughter was doing really well in school and then came time she moved to year 1 and they assigned he'd a new 1 to 1 without any heads up . My daughter has spent the last 5 months back at square 1 building a trusting relationship with her new 1 to 1. Now she's at that point where she trusts and has a strong bond with her 1 to 1 and is doing the best at school. I was told by her 1 to 1 Friday that I should prepare my daughter as the school have let her go and my daughter will be assigned a new 1 ton1. I'm very angry about this as I know it's going to have a detrimental effect on my daughter. When I asked why they was letting her go .. I was told because of funding ... I have arranged a meeting with the sendco and head teacher .. is there anything I can do? Or any advice how I can deal with this

Hi @Charlee31 and a warm welcome to the community!

It sounds like a very stressful situation so it is understandable why you're feeling angry around what has happened.

Funding shouldn't be an issue as EHCP is a legally binding document that the school must uphold so that shouldn't have been the reason they have given. There is some more information on this here, around section F particularly that may be helpful to read before the meeting.

If your daughters school isn't following their school is not following an EHCP then there are steps you can take.

If you haven't already, it may be worth contacting SENDIASS. They are education specialists for your local area who should be able to offer information, advice and support around EHCP and a lot of topics related to education.

It is good that you have a meeting booked with the headteacher and SENCO and I hope it goes well and you get some answers.

Hope this was helpful, please reach out if you would further information or support or have further questions😄

    HI

I'm looking for some help and advice please for my 16 year-old daughter,

Today we went to look around a college as she has been traumatised and has been homeschooling since the age of 14 due to being bullied by so many in her year and then to be told after yet another huge incident of bullying , by the head that they could ensure her safety!

May I add that this was her 2nd Secondary School and been moved again due to bullying, yet no help!

This all has effected.her greatly and still does today, no support from the school or local council.

We are awaiting ASD/ ADHD assessment we have been on the list for 18 months and we are 197 on the list!

Is there anywhere I could go to help with the EHCP form?

I struggle with my MH , and currently caring for my mum just worry that if we apply for EHCP they will use me being a carer or my Mental health against me?

I would appreciate any help or advice please.

    Thanks

    Hi @Gregam

It sounds like you and your daughter have been a lot and it sounds like you did the right thing by homeschooling her.

The EHCP is purely about your child and their needs so your caring responsibilities and mental health shouldn't be a barrier or be a problem.

SENDIASS can usually help fill in the EHCP form. They are education specialists for your local area who should be able to offer information, advice and support around EHCP and a lot of topics related to education.

There may also be support available through your local parent carer forum and there is also SOS SEN who have a helpline and email support that can assist with an EHCP. They also have walk-in advice centres.

Hope this was helpful, please reach out if you would like more support or have additional questions😄
