Hello and welcome freddyboy
depending on your situation you could be able to claim ESA and PIP
1 )Try putting your details into an online benefits calculator
2) try taking the self tests at B&W. they have both ESA and PIP available without charge.

I get pip for having fibro as well as a few other chronic illnesses if thats any help

Fibro, like other chronic conditions, gets progressively worse in most cases. It depends how bad it is for you as to what benefits you get. It usually isn't automatic.

PIP the benefit that's replaced DLA is possible. PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how your conditons affect you daily. Google PIP descriptors and a list of the points scroing will come up. Other benefits will depend totally on your other circumstances.

I got the diagnosis by a consultant three years ago. I still manage to work as I am too scared to apply for benefits.1

You should apply for benefits, dont be scared, go for it
