I found this on the Spring Statement that’s been published on the government website:

Seems to imply that reassessments are to be started from 2026 — or am I reading it wrong?

This is causing my anxiety to spiral. I Have have had a very rough 8mths with feeling suicidal due to being bedbound/housebound. I would love nothing more to be able to work or have some sort of social life. This is Absolutly shameful it really is. What can be done about this. We all need to fight this ad its just gone to far now!!

Hi @LazyLump I'm so sorry to read the effect this is having on your anxiety. As @sarah_lea12 has said, it's not going to change overnight and people are fighting against this. Do you have a support network you can lean on when things get bad? 💛

Wait I'm a bit confused so - they are planning on reducing UC health element by 50% for new claimants - does that also include those migrating from ESA to UC? I suppose it does if it counts as a "new claim"??? How does that work with the TP in place?

Not sure how any of it works. I haven't yet had the letter to migrate but all of this has me really confused (and worried out of my mind!)

They’re are supposed to be migrating us all to UC before the change kicks in so I think we’ll be classed as existing claimants. (I haven’t been migrated yet either)

Not surprised this Budget will further destroy the country. The British continue to pay for their refusal to engage in politics properly. I look forward to seeing all those **** petitions, letter writing campaigns, consultation **** trash and other ****.

Oh and the remaining Labour left expressing shock and horror at what's happening, while conveniently ignoring their complicity by refusing to purge the Labour right from the party mechanisms when they had control. Likewise, starting a new party.

On the bright side, Wes Streeting had his Guardian talk ruined last night by three different disruptive actions from three different groups. That vile creature - like all of Starmers allies - deserves nothing less than such hatred, contempt and direct action. That's how you do politics.

    @Holly_Scope

Holly this is the Spring Statement 2025 health and disability benefit reforms - Impacts https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/67e3fa664038ca2e94411fef/spring-statement-2025-health-and-disability-benefit-reforms-impacts.pdf

By 2029/30, approximately 800,000 people will lose eligibility for the Daily Living component of PIP who would have qualified under the current rules.

There is a lot of information on the impacts in this document. The government's impact assessment estimates that these reforms will result in 3.2 million families losing an average of £1,720 per year by the end of 2030.

brilliant list, the only one I can see not carrying so much weight would be the Gender Discrimination. If the numbers of women claiming are higher this may adjust numbers. It could be argued that gender was not at the base of the policy change. I just think it would be a tougher one to argue.
I think the child/family disproportionate one is a great challenge along with the PIP points one.

However, they are being very crafty because everyone will be reassessed. So unless you fall into the severely disabled category many will lose their LCWRA component. Where 3 millions jobs are coming from I've no idea.

As far as I can see,all these so called "jobs" are coming from the so many million+ houses they are promising to build,so we can all be "Bob the Builder" for them.Labour are a disgrace !!!

I wish I hadn't looked at the news. I said to myself that I was going to stay away. Just really **** off now. Had enough of all this ****... I got uc on my back sending me a letter about me not declaring my capital promptly in Dec 2019. Thing is that was when my new uc claim started and dec 2019 to jan 2020 was my first assessment period and I declared my savings during the new claim checks as I found it on my journal. So looks like it was their fault and not mine.. they have asked for an explanation and what I've done to rectify the error. What error. I declared it when I did my new claim checks so that's ****. I hate dwp... also why have they only just picked on this now when it was years ago... ugh. Literally how am I supposed to remember 2019 when I was in hospital twice that year for trying to kms.

I am 60 years of age in June. I have multiple mobility, mental health and daily living issues. I have been dealing with this for 25 years to be exact. DLA to PIP. I have just migrated onto UC awaiting my award notice. I am utterly exhausted mentally I can honestly say I’ve never felt so disgusted in a government ever! And we’ve had a few! So basically the small security I had is gone.

£1,720 only represents the loss of LCWRA it does not include the loss of any PIP entitlement that will be a lot more and added to the LCWRA loss will mean millions more people living in abject poverty. It is unforgiveable what this government intends to do and all I can hope is that something changes in the next few months to force them to backtrack on their proposed PIP changes.

Do we know if everyone will be migrated. Are you talking about Legacy(old style) CB ESA Support Group or New Style ESA migration only? I haven’t seen anything suggesting what will happen to those of us on the former ESA benefit.

Ah, thank you Danny. It is bloody confusing for folk. But that's made me feel slightly more optimistic.
