Hi @luvpink. Did you mean to say it “WASN’T” means tested ? - as I’m on CBESA (support group) and assumed this benefit wasn’t means tested - but only ESA-IR (income related).

so basically we don’t know our limitations we are all living under some misguided notions that we’re too ill to work oh and our specialists are all misguided too btw. So “they” need to tell us what’s best for us, cos clearly we have no notion of how we feel.

@gamer1 I've been through it all. When you think it can't get any worse it does.
They don't give a flying fig about us. None of them ever did. I'm almost 59 I've had my fill of them moving the goalposts and as you get older and hope you'll be left alone it changes again.
I've no idea how they think any of these new proposals will do anything for us other than make us sicker as well as poorer.

it’s going to leave so many people helpless and hopeless. No pip ,no carer , not enough financial support. Sorry to say but I think for some people, they will be left so devastated that there are going to be suicides as a direct result of these disgusting cuts. Labour are not the party they used to be.

Same situation here-I sent my review paperwork in September 2024, with my initial award set to expire at the end of March 2025! I panicked and called the PIP helpline, who mentioned that due to huge backlogs for PIP reviews, payments will continue until the review is complete, and an automatic one-year extension will be given to facilitate this.
I’ve now received the letter, which has put my mind at rest. Ive also attached this document for blue badge renewal and awaiting outcome from council.I hope you get yours extended the same way if you haven’t heard anything yet. You can always contact the PIP helpline to alleviate your worries.

I'm with you there. I'm in my 60s, unwell (as we all are) and facing poverty probably about three years before i can get State Pension.
I was hoping the remaining few years of my life would be relatively stress free, it's difficult enough as it is what with being housebound and being unwell.
With the way I've felt this past week I won't even get to retirement if this carries on. I honestly think they consider us disposable.

I 100% agree. They should be arrested, it's manslaughter at best and murder at worst. But, they are above the law, they keep getting away with it.
Same with bad work coaches who will **** someone of their money if they are genuinely unable to fulfill certain requests, like stopping someones money who is agoraphobic because they're unable to go to the job centre, or because someone with crippling travel anxiety is unable to travel, etc. Work coaches have basically been given licences to kill by the DWP.

I was reading on the benefits and work website about wca assessment would do short term like high risk pregnancy, cancer, and substantial risk, what is meant for substantial risk.

The changes on PIP will see me go from enhanced ADL to nothing (all 3s & 2s).Enhanced Mobility will remain the same.
I’m also on Contributory ESA haven’t seen that mentioned?
My wife will also lose her PIP. Enhanced but no 4s.
In total = £840.40 worse offIf Cont ESA taken that’s another £304 (support group)
Considering that DLA was set up to help with health and social care costs when Thatcher set about dismantling NHS & Local Authorities were a “costly mess“ to Central Government.
It’s IRONIC that the Labour government will axe the money that removes a vital support mechanism to our community.What my PIP goes on:
Adhoc physio
Payment for profiling bed
Therapist
I have been waiting 14 months for neurology block procedure. May have to look at self funding as the pain is too much and virtually bed ridden.
Payment for loan for wet room installation.
Sorry if you look at this and see me being well off. I was medically retired 2years ago the proceeds of my lump sum went towards making my home into an accessible for me.
I post this in solidarity with my fellows in the Disabled and Long term health community.

Exactly how I feel. I am 62 in a few months and was hoping that as I approached State Pension age,I would not have to worry about being forced to look for work. Just the thought of having to search for employment makes me feel exhausted. I have 2 autoimmune health issues plus osteoarthritis and I find so many days a struggle. I am sick to the back teeth of Rachel bloody Reeves saying parrot fashion 'Disabled people WANT to work, given the chance'. Yes,if they feel well enough! Which I most certainly do not. I'd be interested to find out how many long-term sick /disabled people actually DO feel well enough to work. Believe me,I admire anyone with a disability or serious health issue who does work,but I do wish this government would stop assuming that everyone is capable. It's not a one size fits all matter.

Could we sue them for the stress and emotional turmoil they are inflicting on us? A class action suit? Something like that?
Also, Starmer is an unfunny joke.
His only objective is, imo, gaining The Nobel Peace Prize via his determination to be head of this so-called Coalition of the Willing. This would allow him, like Blair before him, access to untold wealth on the talk/lecture circuit telling the world of his own magnificence and vision.
The vacuum his ambition leaves behind him allows the likes of Reeves and Kendall to run the show - both Tories in all but name.

Unfortunately for her, Trump is an even more narcissistic (and malignant) character.
He will play her (via Starmer) like a puppet.
Trump will do so no matter how much humiliating, public butt-kissing in which Starmer indulges.

This will depend a lot on what your local authority does/how they process badges.
In our local authority area, we have two forms, a short and a long form - the former being for the automatic PIP or DLA criteria, and the second being medical discretionary. It is a much longer form, which requires a lot more detail, but it is possible to get a badge issued with that and medical evidence (eg statements from doctors, prescriptions, anything that supports your medical need for the badge) in the absence of the PIP. This is in line with government guidance on Blue Badges, whereby medical need can be proven in the absence of qualifying benefits or in the case where the points are not enough/the wrong kind of mobility at the wrong level (for example people with 12 points for planning a journey are not automatically eligible per the govt's rules and so in most areas would have to provide additional evidence.)Renewing it with PIP pending would be discretionary anyway, so it may be worth asking whoever processes/issues badges in your area what their eligibility criteria are.

CB-ESA isn't means-tested. I was moved from IR-ESA to CB-ESA when an inheritance took my saving over the £16000 limit.
