Hi, my name is jenny2115! Any advice on back pay for moving from LCW to LCWRA?

I was wondering if I could get any advice on lcw and lcwra. I read a previous post about back pay but a little confused. I was awarded lcw in 2020. Was asked if I wanted to do a reassessment as I wanted to update a health condition so I agreed this was March 2024. My coach at the time said I would need to supply sick notes until a decision is made which I did until I was not physically able to upload them onto uc the option was taken away. I finally received the form in November, had my assessment in February 2025 and a decision the same week that I’ve been awarded lcwra. Received the letter confirming the following week. I asked about back pay in my journal and had reply that I moved from lcw to lcwra so no no back pay. I would just like to know if this is correct x

When going from LCW to LCWRA you only get backpay if the claimant has reported a health change, and supplied continuous Fit Notes until the decision.

As the second hasn't been done then you won't qualify for backpay.

The decision dates from the Assessment Period in which the LCWRA is awarded.

thank you for your reply. I do understand that fit notes wasn’t supplied but that was only because the option for me to upload them wasn’t there, even my coach didn’t understand why the option was taken off but advised me to still keep them which I did. Was just a little confused by the whole process x

You could try an online complaint, see if they will accept the Fit Notes retrospectively which would make you eligible for backpay, dating to March 2024 when you reported the change.
