Again, thank you. 😊 @noonebelieves Fellow members are on my mind too, you read some truly heart rending posts on this thread and around the community. 😢

I've always thought that I don't know what's worse. Being so badly treated yourself or to see it done to others. I don't think that there is anything between them, they are both just as bad. 🥺

You are absolutely spot on yourself when you say that you didn't want to look back and regret not doing your very best to try to make our situation better. You really have to do your utmost even though success looks so difficult, we owe that much to our future selves.

Such low lives, as in the government, really push the culture of fear, hoping it will crush our spirit, therefore any dissent. They think that we are a push over but I think that they are going to find they have bitten off more than they could chew!! ✊

I know that what you thought of isn't at all likely to happen but it's a great dream to have isn't it! 🤔👌

Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to hold this government to account for their despicable proposals. However, they are making themselves so enormously unpopular with this and in so many other ways with the ordinary people of this country that I think that their Day of Reckoning is GOING to happen and I'm convinced that their fall will be a spectacular one, compared to previous governments.

Their kind seem to have a way of causing a massive backlash by their enemies and they end up getting the situation they most deserve happening to them. Remember, that loss of face and status really matter to the skin deep, like themselves. The only thing is that it always seems to take too long to happen! 🙄

We will see this all through to it's conclusion and way beyond. I'm sure of that. 😊

I take great satisfaction in my ability to keep going, as I've done for years now, as I know that they will hate someone whose disabled being so determined to live life in the best way they can. I know they would really detest it so it gives me a lot of pleasure!! 😁

The aim is to do the exact opposite of what they want us do, I'm sure you'll agree. 😎

Best Wishes to you too and take care! 😃

    Hi @Tori_Scope,

    Good Morning
That sounds fantastic. Thanks for letting me/us know.I hope Scope might’ve kept a record of all the MPs who attended the event.
It might be a big ask, but will Will individual members be contacted directly if their constituency MP attended the event?
Either way, this is excellent news, and it’s so encouraging to hear that our personal emails are reaching parliamentarians-exactly where they need to go.

Many thanks for all the brilliant work Scope is doing behind the scenes.👏👏

As always, please keep us updated. We’re right behind you in all your efforts.
Best Wishes & Have a great day!

    @jul1aorways

I just wanted to thank you for your excellent support in standing up against these cuts…whatever it takes. Your replies to me here, and your touching story in the main Green Paper thread, are so powerful and inspiring.I’ve just read your post in the green paper thread -absolutely brilliant and empowering !

I’m also very grateful for all your kind credits and compliments to me on the Green Paper proposal page. But honestly, I don’t feel I deserve any of them until we win this battle to uphold the rights of all our disabled community, including you, me and all our families and children.

Sorry I haven’t been able to contribute this morning. After a long day yesterday, I had a fall down the stairs and had to visit A and E-I may have damaged a muscle or tendon in my left shoulder , so I’ve been unable to contribute . I’ll definitely be joining in again soon.

In the meantime, I’m slowly working through the government’s Green Paper(Health permitting)and trying to untangle some of the deceptive parts of their proposal. That said, I’m really glad to see the key issues that commonly affect many are already being discussed. As you rightly said, we have a vital role in empowering and motivating others and it’s painfully clear how much harm these proposals are already causing in our lives and across the community. Some of the stories shared truly pierce the heart.

Let’s continue to empower our members to stand against these devastating benefit cuts by responding to the Labour government’s ‘Pathways to Work’ Green Paper consultation.

    I’ll join you there soon!

Thank you for everything, it means a lot to me !

    Best Wishes

I’m glad I filled out the petition this morning, fair to say I didn’t hold back from saying what needed to be said. The past few months with the Labour government just thinking they are attacking people with Mental and Physical Disabilities, they forget there also targeting there loved ones, plus the Care & Support Workers that work in the Care Sector alongside Social Services, and many many Mental Health Workers to. I think why it’s hits square between the eyes, is I used to be a Support Worker for Adults with Mental and Physical Disabilities alongside myself now being on the other side of the fence now myself being a Service User living in an adapted Supported Living Flat and rely on all three of the benefits on a monthly basis. Fair to say I’ve buried my head in the sand, refused to call the crisis line or the mental health team, until I left a message for the mental health team and they didn’t ring me back 🤬

The Government, think they are going after the week, but instead they are going after the strongest people in this country who refuse to give in no matter what, day in day out.

    @Grumpy1314

I’m sorry to hear about the struggles you’ve been through, but I love the ending of your post. It’s so empowering and refreshing to hear. Yes, the government is in for a surprise…they’ve completely underestimated our power and what we can achieve in solidarity.

    Please take care of yourself.

    Best wishes!

Thank You 😊 I think if the government had there way, they would just rebuild Sanitariums and place us all in there, undoing decades of work and hard earned independence. Stay safe and Take Care 😊

Benefits and work website has a form to fill in and summit , no name needed to show how the cuts will impact you.

Please if you can go on to change petition site ,Richard Burgon Mp has got a petition against the cuts. If you tickna box your name won't be on it . The more we stand together. Hopefully something will be done.

Thanks for the kind words! It's campaigners like you that make all the difference 💜

I don't think we have capacity to reach out to individual members to let them know, unfortunately. And I've been told I can't share a list of which MPs attended. But, if you ask me, I should be able to let you know if your MP went. You can privately message me on here, saying who your MP is, or email campaigns@scope.org.uk. Some MPs have been meeting with us separately, too, which is worth remembering 🙂

    Hi @Grumpy1314,

I completely understand your feelings … it really does feel like this government has dragged us back to the dark ages with its harmful attitudes and policies , targeting the most vulnerable and disabled people in our communities.

But I believe that when we all stand together in solidarity, we can push back against these brutal proposals. No one should be forced into poverty in a country like the UK. We all deserve to have our rights upheld and to live in a fair, democratic, and inclusive society.

Anything that threatens those values must be and can be challenged. There is so much hope!

We’re all standing with you. Wishing you a lovely day!

    Best wishes

    Thank You 😊

You’re 100% correct, it’s just going down hill from here, I have my PIP reviewed in 2027 and I’m worried sick about it to say the least, alongside my Universal Credit and ESA. I’m lucky that I don’t have to migrate across to Universal from ESA as I’m in the Support Group based on Income. Just hate not knowing where we are up to with things, it certainly affects your mind. I put in my housing costs last week, and got the green light over a video call with UC, but I’ve now got a notification to do it, left a note for my job coach and nobody has replied 🤬. It’s down on my records that I’ve got limited capability to work.
If they cut my money, it will end in one of two way, either I end up back in a mental health unit or I’ll be taking my own life sadly.
    All The Best

Many thanks for reaching out and checking on me, @Holly_Scope.

I truly appreciate your kind words. Although I’m still in pain and relying on strong medication and ice packs, I’m very grateful there are no fractures.

I’m genuinely so overwhelmed by the kindness and support I’ve received from our community ❤️ it’s helping me on the road to recovery. I’m in good hands😊

Please keep up the excellent work you’re doing behind the scenes to uphold our rights, especially in the face of these draconian government proposals.

Thank you again, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had an accident yesterday!😮 That must have been frightening as well as very painful. Nobody wants to combine that with a long wait at A&E either!! 😣

I do admire your determination to carry on with what you are doing. Just please don't push yourself too much though! 😊

Thank you for your very kind words, it is good to know that what I've said is helping you to cope with what we have to deal with from government and I'm only too glad to help others too, ultimately helping each other to be much more empowered together than apart. 💪💪💪It's very satisfying to do, knowing that I'm making a difference.

You DO deserve the compliments I've given you!! That's for sure. 👏👏👏 The way I see it is that the process of fighting these cuts is as important, if not more important than winning the battle. Really I personally think that it's more important as we are having to wade through so much misery and uncertainty while ministers and MPs are doing so much to misrepresent us to make sure they get these reforms though, by whatever means they can.

The destination is vitally important but I think the journey is everything, myself. Stop being so modest! 😊

I agree, let's continue with what we're doing, going down every route we can, supporting our fellow disabled through the process too, if only to be on their side if they can't deal with fighting these proposals, for whatever reason. Of course, the more we can help the better!! 👌🤗

I ought to be the one who thanks YOU for everything, it means such a lot to me too, it really does! 😃

Best Wishes to you and a speedy recovery. 👍

    Hi @grumpy1314,

Thank you so much for sharing how things are going for you right now. I’m really sorry to hear about everything you’re dealing with - especially the lack of response from your work coach. That must feel incredibly frustrating and worrying, particularly when you’re already carrying so much.

I know I’m not an expert on the ins and outs of benefits, but it might be worth starting a separate thread about your situation. There are some really knowledgeable people here, including the Scope team and other members, who could offer some clear guidance. Have you had a chance to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau? They can often be really helpful too.

I truly hear and understand your fears around the cuts and the uncertainty they’re causing. It’s so hard not knowing where you stand, and it’s only natural that it’s taking a toll on your mental health. Please remember that your life and wellbeing matter above all else. You are not alone in this, and there is still hope ✌️ many of us are standing together and doing what we can to challenge and stop these harmful proposals before they become reality.

I really hope you’re getting some support from your local mental health team, and if not, please don’t hesitate to reach out to services like Samaritans or Mind. They’re always there to listen without judgement – sometimes even just talking things through can ease the weight a little.
I honestly believe that people like us – people who’ve faced so much – are some of the strongest out there. Like you said in your post yesterday , this government clearly doesn’t understand the power of our collective voices. They might think we’re weak, but they’re in for a real surprise.

Please look after yourself and take things one step at a time. You’ve already shown a lot of strength by opening up here. That’s not easy – and it shows the kind of resilience that many wouldn’t understand unless they’d walked in similar shoes.
Sending you my very best wishes, and remember – we’re all in this together. You matter.🤗
    Take care

    Hi again @jul1aorways ,
Thank you ever so much for your lovely message. It truly meant a lot to read your kind words after my A&E visit yesterday.

I’m still in pain but thankfully on the road to recovery. What really stayed with me from yesterday was a brief but touching moment while waiting in the long queue -I had a chat with an elderly couple, the gentleman aged 86 who’d fractured eight ribs and a vertebrae after falling at home on a wooden cabinet . They’d arrived at 9 in the morning and were still waiting for a bed by 9 in the evening. Yet, despite the pain and distress, he simply told me, “It’s just a bad day – I’m in the right place now and I’ll soon be back in the garden.” His quiet strength and positive outlook really moved me. Compared to what he had endured, my own pain injury felt quite small. It gave me a fresh perspective and renewed determination to keep going.
That moment strangely mirrored the spirit we’ve been sharing on the forum lately , reminding me again of the power of resilience, hope, and standing together.
Like you said so beautifully, it’s the journey - the process of pushing back, lifting each other up, and holding the line – that carries as much importance as the outcome itself. We may not yet know how this fight will unfold, but every voice raised, every post shared, and every person empowered makes a difference.

I completely agree with what you said about the ministers – we’ve got to keep writing to MPs, raising awareness and challenging these reforms head-on. As our lovely Scope Mods updated-94 MPs recently took note of constituents’ concerns, which I think is a promising start – but we can’t stop there. As @Grumpy1314 put it so powerfully last night , we must show that we are not weak, and we will never stop standing up for our rights.

I’ve also now come across the public consultation events and accessible formats now listed on the official Pathways to Work Green Paper site. I was surprised they’re charging for printed copies – which hardly helps accessibility – but I’ve shared the key links on Scope’s Green Paper thread, and I’ve asked the moderators to consider making an announcement too, especially as so many members have found the full documents far too long and exhausting.

As you and others have highlighted, this isn’t just policy or proposals – it feels like an outright attack on disabled, vulnerable and elderly people through their ethos since Labour taking office in July 2024 . But what the government clearly doesn’t realise is the strength we draw from each other – the solidarity, the real-life stories, and the unwavering spirit that binds us.

So yes, let’s keep going. Let’s encourage others to respond to the consultation, join the campaign, and keep making our voices heard. I’m seriously thinking of attending one of the virtual consultation events myself to better understand their proposals – and to challenge them on their own terms.

Thank you again, Juls. Your words have lifted me more than you know. Let’s keep standing strong – together.
Wishing you and your husband all the very best,

    Take good care

My local MP is Caroline Voaden. I sent her the Scope template email, with a few personal additions. Her reply was that she wouldn't be there due to "prior commitments". She included a link to the green paper and told me to fill it out. After trying to fill out the form twice without success ( I have multiple issues that affect energy and mental ability), I emailed her back explaining why I and many others in my position wouldn't be able to tackle yet another lengthy form, with the result being that this is yet another underrepresented are in our lives. I added that there are thousands of us in the same position and that we are reliant on our MPs to represent us at this time. I haven't had a response to this. She seems very busy with other things. Despite initially telling me that the libdems are passionate about supporting disabled people I see no evidence of this in action. I'm struggling hard to understand where care went. How can we have fought so hard for so many years for understanding and consideration for it all to be destroyed??
