Hi @Catherine21
Many Labour MPs are not accepting the trade off between taking more children out of poverty and so putting more of us into poverty.
You may have have read the article about this on the community but if not, it is fully explained here. π

There has been some encouraging developments in government that you may want to read about here, in an article from The Observer (The Guardian on Sunday) if you haven't seen it already. π
If not I hope that it makes you feel better. I feel quite a bit more hopeful after reading it and it shows what a great contribution disabled people are making to the resistance to these cuts. π

Have you noticed that every time they scrap a benefit, the one that replaces it is worth quite a bit less money wise. π‘
You can bet that when the "Health Element" of UC replaces the LCWRA it will be even more miserly than it's predecessor, for new claimants first then how long will it be before they apply it to existing claimants on review. β οΈ
I don't wish to alarm anyone here but I think that we better take that possibility into consideration, so we can be prepared to fight it eventually. π€
The evil being perpetrated here is undiluted and never ending too..β¦π

PLEASE DON'T FORGET that the Local Elections are coming up on 1st May 2025. If it is possible for you do so I URGE YOU TO VOTE. π’ Please don't think that Local Elections are for local issues, they can make a great deal of difference to national policy making too. ββββ
It is vitally important as we have a chance to vote against the Labour government, with 80 MPs being in unstable swing seats where disabled people in each of their constituencies (each MPs area) can easily vote them out, as long as THEY DO turn out to vote.
Each vote in every other constituency IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THOUGH.
Whatever you do please don't doubt that YOUR VOTE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. ββββ PLEASE THINK COLLECTIVELY, THE MORE OF US ACT TOGETHER THE BETTER!!
For those of you who believe that none of the main political parties represent you and you would normally stay at home and not vote did you know THAT YOU CAN SPOIL YOUR BALLOT? π€
For the sake of keeping it simple, just write a big cross β like that from edge to edge of the whole paper, right through all the candidates, like the example below. ππππ
Please don't put a mark of ANY KIND by any individual candidate as it will be considered as a vote for them.
I know by experience, of course, just how tough it is with our health conditions to even consider going out, for many of us (including me) and we all feel so ground down by the vile government treatment of the disabled but this is something that COULD MAKE A VERY REAL DIFFERENCE TO OUR FIGHT AGAINST THESE PROPOSED SADISTIC, IMMORAL AND POSSIBLY UNLAWFUL CUTS!!
THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE HAD A POSTAL VOTE WILL HAVE SENT IT IN BY NOW BUT FOR EVERYONE ELSE.ππππ
Firstly, you must be on the ELECTORAL REGISTER, if not make sure that, when the letter comes later in the year to sign you up to it, you do so for future elections.
Please check that there is an election in your area (constituency) at the link below. (Sorry, it was the best I could do with it)
https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/your-election-information
Unfortunately there isn't a Local Election in my constituency this year!! π±π± π± π± so please make a difference too for those of us who have no opportunity to vote at all at this crucial time!! π

Hi, Mine was a postal vote and I am delighted to say my voting slip was ''defaced'' and posted π They get my voting slip but they do not get my vote. I said this a while ago on here, that I intended to deface the slip, my local candidates do not deserve my vote, not one mentioned health/welfare in their campaign agendas, preferring to talk only about ''you know, important issues'' like tree planting and pot holes. My little ''rebellion'' may be perceived as a small meaningless act but boy it gave me a nice little mood lift for a min or two, as painful as not using my vote was, given my family roots and being a woman, it was a decision I had to make.

I tried to sign it too. really annoying, why does it need approving, incase it goes against the propaganda by this evil government? It seems like now their even trying to stop us signing petitions they don't like, makes my blood boilπ

My case on Wednesday is to challange his very thing. In my case I have won my case so many times that NEVER ONCE HAVE THE DWP ALTERED OR AMENDED the assessment and actually logged why? They have also not told every one that they have a special team of Solicitors and Lawyers that have been given Β£Millions to fight cases in Courts and Tribunals, under the pretext of finding the people who are fugging the system and claiming benefits that they are not entitled to.
The Data Protection Act takes care of this and do not need more money spent on getting "disabled or Long Term Sick back into work but again under the we have invested more than ever before to "help"people back ino workβ¦..
This MONEY is for Adaptions to the work place and getting the assessment RIGHT FIRST TIME. Not to have another assessment done under a Mandatory Reconsideration, to re-look at the material already presented by the claimant, and another Assessor.
You have to remember that EVERY ASSESSMENT is checked by head of department BEFORE it is actioned. SO WHAT DOES THAT SAY?

PLEASE CAN I ADD A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE TO MY EARLIER POST ABOUT LOCAL ELECTIONS!! ππππ
ON THE DAY PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE PHOTO ID as you will not be allowed to vote without showing it!! You don't have to have a passport or driving licence, there are many other types of ID that you may already have or can easily acquire before the day. The full list is here. ππ π π

If you have trouble with either of the links (in this post and the previous one) highlight the text and press OPEN on the menu that comes up beside it.

IF YOU CAN TELL ME WHO THEY ARE, I will invite them to the court case on Wednesday, to see what the Secretary of State says about their assessments of claimant, and why in increasing the Basic Living Wage, and therefore increasing the amount of money earned under Universal Credit, that every POUND EARNED OVER THE Β£410 (I BELIEVE) IS NOW DEDUCTED FROM UNIVERSAL CREDITS AT THE RATE OF 55% IN the pound, which means when, like this month it is a 5 week month EVERY ONE ON u c WILL BE DEDUCTED AN AVERAGE OF Β£220 FROM THEIR EARNINGS.
I hope that the case will settle a few issues not only about the reasons for the winter fuel payments, U C deductions and limits, Personal Tax Allowances, and why the HMRC do not give a rebate in tax every year to pensioners since the PENSION was not always a means tested Allowance, but again fell into that catagory and did not altered the tax allowances to allow people to get a part time job after reaching pension age to keep up with the cost of living or funeral expenses to allow no burden on the ones left behind when they go, or things that theey have worked all they life to achieve and now also comes under CAPITOL GAINS TAX.

My local MP replied saying she is so against the proposals as it's imperative to have a benefits system to support the vulnerable.
Quick question. As I got my letter from the company working for DWP doing my assessment. Will I still get my pip until after I've received my form to fill in.
Thanks
