Universal Credit What Happens Now

Hi,
I made my claim for Universal Credit last night 1st May. At first I didn't verify my ID and got a message of " we will call you". I got an email saying you could try verifying online and your claim won't be affected if it fails. I decided to try it and it worked. My ID is verified and it says I will get first statement on 3rd June and if successful paid on 7th June. I used my Passport and Credit Reference. I have a few questions just to clarify.
1. Now ID is verified will someone still contact me?
2. Will UC contact HB and CT to inform them? I have submitted a change of Circumstances online with HB and CT which I am required to do with my council. Just to let them know of change.
3. Will getting any NS ESA affect HB and CTS?
4. I have a Doctors appointment on Tuesday 6th May for a blood test will anyone want me to go to Job Center or call me about NS ESA?
5. Will I still get a run on of my legacy benefits. I am worried it's not going to go to plan and get into arrears. Council Tax Report a Change form said keep paying Council Tax as usual any overpayment you will get a refund. Does anyone know if paying by Direct Debit will cause complications?
Sorry for rambling. Thank You for any replies

- If ID verification is complete then no you won't be contacted to verify ID.
- Yes
- You won't be getting Housing Benefit any longer (unless living in supported or sheltered housing). Your rent will be paid via UC Housing Element. Every local authority runs a different scheme for Council Tax Reduction so it's very difficult to advise on individual cases from here.
- You will be notified with an appointment in advance for anything UC or ESA related.
- Yes there is no reason you won't receive a run on of any legacy benefits. Council Tax will be recalculated with your new income so the advice to keep paying as normal unless you are told otherwise is correct.

Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify, I will still get a 2 week run on of Housing Benefit and Income Related ESA for the next fortnight? I don't want to find myself in arrears. How will run on of Housing Benefit be paid now for those 2 weeks? Will it be paid to my rent account as usual? Thanks

I pay CT by Direct Debit. Will they just keep taking it as normal until UC up and running.

Yes your run on of HB & ESA should be received within 2 weeks. Depending on the date of your last ESA payment prior to claiming it might not be for the full amount.
I'm not sure how your hb run on is paid but I would assume into your rent account as normal. Perhaps someone else can confirm 🙂
